10 Things That Make Your Home a Target for Thieves

A home is robbed every 14.6 seconds and the average dollar loss per burglary is $2,119, according to statistics just released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. And that's the good news because burglaries were down slightly in 2010 compared to 2009. Sure you lock your doors and windows when you're not home (you'd be surprised how many people don't). But here are ten things that you're probably doing that make your home a target, and what you should do instead:

1. Leaving your garage door open or unlocked. Once inside the garage, a burglar can use any tools you haven't locked away to break into your home, out of sight of the neighbors. Interior doors between the garage and your home often aren't as strong as exterior doors and may not have deadbolt locks.

Instead: Always close and lock the garage door. Consider getting a garage-door opener with random codes that automatically reset.

2. Hiding spare keys. Burglars know about fake rocks and leprechaun statues and will check under doormats, in mailboxes, and over doorways.

Instead: Give a spare set to a neighbor or family member.

3. Storing ladders outdoors or in unlocked sheds. Burglars can use them to reach the roof and unprotected upper floor windows.

Instead: Keep ladders under lock and key.

4. Relying on silent alarm systems. Everyone hates noisy alarms, especially burglars. Smart thieves know that it can take as long as 10 to 20 minutes for the alarm company or cops to show up after an alarm has been tripped.

Instead: Have both silent and audible alarms.

5. Letting landscaping get overgrown. Tall hedges and shrubs near the house create hiding spots for burglars who may even use overhanging branches to climb onto your roof.

Instead: Trim any bushes and trees around your home.

6. Keeping your house in the dark. Like overgrown landscaping, poor exterior lighting creates shadows in which burglars can work unobserved.

Instead: Replace burned out bulbs promptly, add lighting where needed, and consider putting fixtures on motion sensors or light sensors so that they go on automatically.

7. Not securing sliding doors. These often make tempting targets.

Instead: When you're out, put a dowel down in the channel, so that the door can't be opened wide enough for a person to get through.

8. Relying on your dog to scare away burglars. While barking my deter amateurs, serious burglars know that dogs may back away from someone wielding a weapon, or get chummy if offered a treat laced with a tranquilizer.

Instead: Make your home look occupied by using timers to turn lights, radios, and TVs on and off in random patterns.

9. Leaving "goody" boxes by the curb. Nothing screams "I just got a brand new flat-screen, stereo, or other big-ticket item" better than boxes by the curb with your garbage cans.

Instead: Break down big boxes into small pieces and bundle them together so that you can't tell what was inside.

10. Posting vacation photos on Facebook. Burglars troll social media sites looking for targets.

Instead: Wait until you get back before sharing vacation details or make sure your security settings only allow trusted "friends" to see what you're up to.

Remember friends, guns save lives! The twisted liberals would have you think guns are dangerous and that they should all be banned. What the liberals really want is for citizens to be unarmed. Every house should have at least one gun if not more.

With up to par safety standards of course. Never rely on 911 telephone numbers or police to get there in time. Sometimes, you need to act on your own to save your family or yourself.

Student Punished for Christian Beliefs About Homosexuality Pushes Back

On Tuesday, high school freshman Dakota Ary was given in-school suspension for stating in class that he believes homosexuality is wrong because of his Christian faith. Liberty Counsel is representing Dakota in this case, demanding full vindication and a full retraction of the suspension. If the school board does not comply, a lawsuit will be filed for violation of Dakota's First Amendment rights.

Dakota was in a German language class at Western Hills High School on Tuesday when the topic of homosexuality arose. "I'm a Christian and, to me, being homosexual is wrong," Dakota said to one of his classmates. His teacher overheard the comment, wrote Dakota an infraction, and sent him to the principal's office. The class topic was religious beliefs in Germany. During the discussion, one student asked what Germans thought about homosexuality in relation to religion. Another student then asked to hear some translated terms such as "lesbian." These questions provoked the conversation about Christianity and Dakota's expression of his opinion to one classmate.

The discipline referral form says the comment was out of context, even though the lesson for the day was on religious beliefs. The teacher charged Dakota with "possible bullying" and indicated, "It is wrong to make such a statement in public school." Last week, the teacher displayed a picture of two men kissing on a "World Wall" and told the students that homosexuality is becoming more prevalent in the world and that they should just accept it. Many of the students were offended by the teacher's actions and his continually bringing up the topic of homosexuality in a German language class.

Just because you walk through the schoolhouse doors doesn't mean you shed your First Amendment rights. Dakota wasn't disrupting class. He wasn't bullying or harassing anybody. He was just stating his personal opinion on a topic somebody else brought up and in a civil and respectful manner.

Will America remain the "last best hope of man on earth" if we continue to teach children our nation's shortcomings?

Many of us are concerned that our education system is failing, but no subject has received less focus on its shortcomings than the area of American history.

In June, the National Assessment of Education Progress (known as the nation's report card) for American history was released. The results were shocking. Only 20% of fourth-graders, 17% of eighth-graders and 12% of 12th-graders scored "proficient" on the subject.

Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough called our students "historically illiterate."

There are many reasons this has occurred, but it's clear that teaching American history is not a priority in the classroom.

Unfortunately, focusing on objective historical facts has been put aside and children are no longer learning about the critical leaders and events that have shaped the United States.

Significant time is spent discussing all the things America has done wrong in our 235 years. As a result, little time is left to teach what we have done right.
It's time for a new national focus on the importance and significance of a factual presentation of American history. That's why I co-founded Learn Our History with Brad Saft to counterbalance a blame-America-first attitude among textbook authors and many teachers. Unlike the current presentation of our history as one of racism, sexism and imperialism, we seek to help our children and teachers understand who and what have made America the greatest country in the world.

America isn't perfect, but it is "the last best hope of man on earth," as Ronald Reagan said. This is an effort to inform and inspire the next generation of Americans so they can become better citizens.

As the 10th anniversary of the terrible attacks of 9/11 is still fresh in our minds, Learn Our History has released the video "9/11 and the War on Terror" to give parents and teachers an additional tool to explain this seminal event to our children. This important film helps explain to children the reasons we were targeted (not the reasons some politicians would have you believe!), how American values differ from those of our attackers and why and how our nation responded.

As you probably already know, this new video has not been warmly received by some members of the chattering class. We never expected it to be. These are the same people who would rather we focus our children’s history education on what America has done wrong.

We realize that much in our culture has become politicized to the point of being polarized. It's clear that some on the left do not want those with differing views to have a voice in America's classrooms, and it is well-known that most of the educational establishment tilts to the left of our political spectrum.

Ok, above you read what Huckabee think's is wrong with America. Now let us, TWAU have a crack at it. First off America has lost it's foundation. That foundation being the gospel of Jesus Christ. The very foundation our founding fathers placed there for us.

Over the years liberals/atheists/evolutionists etc... Have chipped away at our foundational values and morals. Twisting our constitution to make it same as if it supports wicked agendas. The constitution was created based on Biblical principles and morals. So that being said, the constitution does not legally support anything that is pro-homosexuality or anything to do with abortions. Because those things are against Biblical teachings.

However, you have corrupt activist judges making rulings that declare the constitution does indeed defend homosexuality and other wicked things. That is a clear cut case of perverting the constitution.

Evil organizations like The ACLU have sued schools, churches, and just about everything they can to remove Christ or God from anything public. And in that removing our core foundational values from our culture.

So, what is really wrong with America? We Need God In America Again! The false religion of evolution needs to stop being taught as fact in schools! People need to stop being content watching TV in the house and focusing on good eating, and start being more active in their voting of our nations leaders.

Vote the evil people out! Vote the good ones in. Good ones being those who are Christians! There is a song out by a Christian singer named Carman, the song is called America Again! It's exactly what is wrong with America, and what it needs to be restored. Listen to the song!

The military's ban on openly gay service officially ended at midnight, and already one member of the Air Force has shared a video of his personal journey out of the closet.

The above video is really sad. But not for the reasons you might think. It's sad because this poor young man is so confused about his sexuality and morals that he fell into the same trap that many have.

Homosexuality is not an identity, (IT'S NOT WHO A PERSON IS) It's an activity and nothing more. Liberals have long tried to twist the issue into making people who live this way into their own people group, as if they were a race or something. But the bottom line is they are just people, as we all are, who choose to make a decision to have sex with the same sex.

It's an activity, not an identity!

Parents, especially fathers have to be pro-active in this when kids are at a young age. Don't just never mention the issue and one day be surprised when your kid gets mislead into thinking he/she is gay.

Start when they are young, and actively teach your children that some people choose to live this way, but God's law says people should not live like that. It is wrong! And it is perverse!

The Bible clearly teaches that it is a sexual sin. An abomination. Unnatural.
If parents instil Gods Word into their children's minds at a young age. And place the knowledge into their minds about it being wrong it will stick. It's no different than teaching your kids that it's wrong to steal or that it's wrong to smoke.

Take an active roll in your kids lives. For the sake of their salvation.

Now, he is once again doing our nation a great service. We all know Obama is a fraud, and not qualified to be in office. It's very clear to see that Obama is NOT American.

People have been fighting court battles against Obama and his birth certificate for years now, and courts keep protecting Obama even though they know he isn't qualified. GOP Candidates Revive Proposal to Partially Privatize Social Security

The leading Republican presidential contenders are embracing plans to partially privatize Social Security, reviving a politically risky issue that President George W. Bush abandoned after Democrats pounced on it.

As President Obama sidesteps ways to keep the retirement system viable, his would-be rivals are eager to let younger workers divert part of their payroll taxes into some type of personal account to be invested separately from Social Security.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has a version. Reps. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and Ron Paul of Texas have said younger workers should be allowed to invest in alternative plans. Texas Gov. Rick Perry has raised the idea of letting whole groups, such as state and local government workers, opt out of Social Security.

Social security use to be a good thing. But the federal government has wasted and dipped into it so much it's really not what it use to be. I believe it should be done away with, because for one, it doesn't pay enough back to those who contributed to live on anyway.

And two, It now serves as a money pot for the feds to stick their hands in and give it away to those who really didn't contribute enough to draw from it. So Bush had a great idea! Make social security personal accounts. So you get all that you put in to it. And it doesn't get redistributed to other people who didn't earn it.

Pack Of Violent Black, Hispanic Teens Attack 4 White Men Outside Denver Mall

DENVER (CBS4) – Police are asking for the public’s help tracking down a large group of violent teenagers.

They say 10 to 15 young people — described as black or Hispanic and both male and female — attacked four white men on the 16th Street Mall at about 10:45 p.m. on Sunday.

Denver police say the men were standing on the mall near Arapahoe when they were approached by the group. After a conversation, the group turned violent and they attacked the men.

Another example of bad parenting. At this point the only thing that can be done with these teens/young people. Is swift justice. Which society has actually done away with. Instead law makers simply separate criminals from the public. That's not enough to correct people.
