Parolee flees, hits house

A Gerber man armed with a semi-automatic pistol crashed his car into a Walton Drive residence Tuesday night while fleeing police, according to Red Bluff Police reports.

Police first noticed Jose Luis Hernandez III, 22, was driving a 2006 Kia on Tuesday night with a defective headlight near the corner of Luther Road and South Main Street, according to a press release issued by Sgt. Quintan Ortega.

As the officer approached, Hernandez sped through a red light, driving onto Diamond Avenue and then Walton Drive, where he reportedly crashed into a home on the 500 block.

No one was injured and the vehicle and residence only sustained minor damage, Ortega said.

A search of Hernandez's vehicle revealed a loaded semi-automatic pistol reported stolen in Merced County.

Hernandez was released from prison in August and had been on parole, Ortega said.

Hernandez was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property, driving under the influence of drugs, reckless driving, driving without a license, carrying a concealable firearm, carrying a loaded firearm inside a vehicle, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, being a felon in possession of ammunition and violating parole.

Judge cites homeschoolers for violating U.N. mandate

An international organization that has fought pitched battles over parents' rights to educate their own children in Germany, Sweden and the United States, as well as lesser fights in a number of other countries, is taking on officialdom in Botswana after police there grilled homeschoolers, confiscated their teaching materials and ordered them to appear in court.

The Home School Legal Defense Association, based in the United States, also is asking its members to become part of the fight by contacting not only the Botswana embassy but also the office of the African nation's president to express alarm over the developments. Contact information is being posted on the organization's website.

Parents should always have the right to educate their kids the way they think is best. As long as the kids stay at the right learning level. Studies show that children who are homeschooled are typically much brighter than kids who attend public schools.

The nice thing about homeschooling is, that parents can educate their kids and at the same time filter out the garbage public schools push on children, such as the lie, evolution. And pro-homosexuality idealism.

Judge Blocks Nebraska Ban on Flag Mutilation

OMAHA, Neb. -- A federal judge overturned Nebraska's ban on flag mutilation Thursday, clearing the way for Kansas church protesters to continue trampling on the U.S. flag when they protest at military funerals.

The ruling from U.S. District Judge Richard Kopf said the law can't be applied as long as Megan Phelps-Roper and fellow members of the Westboro Baptist Church "otherwise act peacefully while desecrating the American or Nebraska flag during their religiously motivated protests."

It was unclear whether the ruling applied only to the church members or to everyone in Nebraska. An earlier temporary block of the law applied only to Phelps-Roper.

The judge declined to explain the intent of his ruling when reached by The Associated Press.

Judge to Lakin: Find another defense

FT. MEADE, Md. – A career officer in the U.S. Army acting as a judge in the prosecution of Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin today ruled that the military is no place for Barak Obama's presidential eligibility to be evaluated.

Army Col. Denise R. Lind today ruled in a hearing regarding the evidence to be allowed in the scheduled October court-martial of Lakin that he will be denied access to any of Obama's records as well as any testimony from those who may have access to the records.

With her decision, Lind mirrored a number of federal judges who have ruled on civil lawsuits over Obama's eligibility. They have without exception denied the plaintiffs' access to any requested documentation regarding the president's eligibility.

This idiotic judge like many other federal judges got it wrong! And she couldn't have made it any more clear. The type of evidence Lakin wanted to present could "embarrass the president" So she doesn't allow it??! Wow, what if he killed people, and someone wanted to present evidence, that might embarrass him too.

Sen. Murkowski's defeat marks major tea party win

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Backed by the Tea Party Express and Sarah Palin, a little-known conservative lawyer from Alaska became the latest newcomer to the national political stage to take down an incumbent in 2010.

In arguably the biggest political upset of the year, Joe Miller claimed the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate when incumbent GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski conceded Tuesday evening. Murkowski gave up after failing to gain much ground in an count of outstanding absentee ballots.
