OAKLAND (Reuters) - Riot police arrested more than 100 anti-Wall Street protesters during a series of clashes in the streets of Oakland on Saturday that saw officers in riot gear firing tear gas at activists who tried to take over a shuttered convention center.

(Ok, you can stop calling them anti-wall street any time) These idiots haven't a clue as to what wall street is. These are young punk, uneducated, food stamp spending, felony holding, gang member losers are idiots. Nothing more. They seek attention, and a reason to go out and raise hell. To vandalize and to steal.

The mainstream media seems to not want to tell the truth in that these criminals are no good. And they are mainly Obama supporters.

With Leaner Military, Long List of Potential Threats

Following his long-awaited announcement detailing a proposal for massive defense spending cuts and an overall reduction in military personnel, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta revealed his list of the risks and the most pressing threats to America's security.

"This is going to be tough," Panetta told reporters Thursday. "Obviously it will be a smaller force, and when you have a smaller force there are risks associated with that in terms of our capability to respond."

So in the near future where will the world’s strongest military need to respond?

Panetta says there's a long list of potential problems. Among his top concerns, he says, are: the ongoing war in Afghanistan; the threat of terrorism; the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan; Yemen; a nuclear-capable Iran; a nuclear-capable North Korea; proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; turmoil in the Middle East, and the potential for cyber warfare.

The U.S. military's ground forces, specifically the Army and Marines are slated to lose nearly 100,000 troops. The Army will shrink to 490,000 troops down from the current 562,000. The Marines will shrink by 20,000, down to 182,000.

But retired Maj. Gen. Bob Scales says the Pentagon is ignoring the lessons of history.

"Every administration since the fall of the Berlin wall has been trying to cut heavy forces," Scales said in an interview with Fox News on Thursday. "So should we ever face a conventional enemy again - and we will - the chances are very high that we'll march off to war with a force that isn’t heavy enough to fight sustained land combat."

The Pentagon says its new emphasis will be on smaller more nimble Special Operations forces, like the Navy SEALs who carried out the Usama bin Laden raid last year and a daring hostage rescue in Somalia this week, the latter carried out as the president and Defense Department prepared to announce the new cuts.

Among those threats on the horizon, Panetta did not mention China, despite the fact that much of the new military strategy is focused on an increased force presence in the Asia Pacific region. U.S. officials have watched closely as China rapidly grows its own military. In the past year, it managed to test fly a stealth fighter jet and launch its first aircraft carrier.

Even so, mentioning China as a threat would be a mistake. Not only is the U.S. military shifting away from an ability to fight a land war in Asia, it also maintains a very fragile military relationship with China, often soured by U.S. weapons sales to Taiwan.

If one thing is for certain in the Pentagon, it's uncertainly. As Panetta's predecessor, Robert Gates, often said, the Pentagon has a poor record of predicting future wars. “We have never once gotten it right.”

BREAKING NEWS: Obama disqualified in Georgia!

Georgia citizens today delivered sworn testimony to a court that Barack Obama is slam-dunk disqualified from having his name on the 2012 presidential ballot in the state, because his father never was a U.S. citizen, which prevents him from qualifying as a “natural-born citizen” as the U.S. Constitution requires for a president.

The historic hearing was the first time that a court has accepted arguments on the merits of the controversy over Obama’s status. His critics say he never met the constitutional requirements to occupy the Oval Office, and the states and Congress failed in their obligations to make sure only a qualified president is inaugurated. His supporters, meanwhile, argue he won the 2008 election and therefore was “vetted” by America.

(In other words they are saying he slipped by illegally, so now that he's in he should be able to stay)

The hearing was before Judge Michael Malihi of the Georgia state Office of State Administrative Hearings. In Georgia, a state law requires “every candidate for federal” office who is certified by the state executive committees of a political party or who files a notice of candidacy “shall meet the constitutional and statutory qualifications for holding the office being sought.”

State law also grants the secretary of state and any “elector who is eligible to vote for a candidate” in the state the authority to raise a challenge to a candidate’s qualifications, the judge determined.

Citizens bringing the complaints include David Farrar, Leah Lax, Thomas Malaren and Laurie Roth, represented by California attorney Orly Taitz, who has handled numerous cases concerning Obama’s eligibility; David Weldon represented by attorney Van R. Irion of Liberty Legal Foundation; and Carl Swensson and Kevin Richard Powell, represented by J. Mark Hatfield. Cody Judy is raising a challenge because he also wants to be on the ballot.

Several of the attorneys introduced passages from Obama’s own writings that Barack Obama Sr. was his father. They then introduced evidence that the man never was a U.S. citizen, that he was a citizen of Kenya at the time of junior’s birth and was therefore a subject of the United Kingdom.

His father’s citizenship, they said, precludes him from serving as president, since the Founders required that officer to be a “natural-born citizen,” not just a “citizen.”

The term is not defined in the Constitution, but evidence introduced included a passage from a 1975 Supreme Court opinion that states:”The Constitution does not in words say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners.”

Weldon explained in his presentation that the 14th Amendment granting citizenship did not redefine Article 2, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution, which includes the requirement for a president to be a “natural-born citizen.”

The attorney argued also that another later court case referenced citizenship in the dicta, not the central holding in the case, and thus was not controlling.

Many of Irion’s arguments were echoed by Hatfield, a strategy that at least one constitutional expert, Herb Titus, said was sound.

Titus taught constitutional law, common law, and other subjects for nearly 30 years at five different American Bar Association-approved law schools. From 1986 to 1993, he served as the founding dean of the College of Law and Government in Regent University in Virginia Beach, Va. Prior to his academic career, he served as a trial attorney and a special assistant United States attorney with the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and Kansas City, Mo.

He told WND the fact that Obama’s father was a Kenyan citizen should be sufficient.

OBAMA BOYCOTTING GEORGIA ELIGIBILITY HEARING

Barack Obama has announced through his attorney that he will boycott the administrative hearings scheduled tomorrow in Georgia to review evidence of whether he legitimately is a candidate for the presidency, prompting an attorney for one set of the plaintiffs to describe the nation’s commander-in-chief as acting like a “5-year-old brat.”

A letter apparently from his lawyer, Michael Jablonski, was posted today on the website for California attorney Orly Taitz, whose determined pursuit of Obama’s eligibility documentation has taken her to courts across the nation, including the U.S. Supreme Court.

Jablonski told Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp in the letter that “serious problems” had developed in the hearings “pending before the Office of State Administration Hearings.”

He said, “At issue in these hearings are challenges that allege that President Obama is not eligible to hold or run for re-election to his office, on the now wholly discredited theory that he does not meet the citizenship requirements.”

Jablonski said the judge – who previously rejected Obama’s demand to quash a subpoena for him to appear and bring with him his birth records documenting his status as a “natural-born citizen” – has “exercised no control” over the proceeding.

“It threatens to degenerate into a pure forum for political posturing to the detriment of the reputation of the state and your office. Rather than bring this matter to a rapid conclusion, the ALJ has insisted on agreeing to a day of hearings, and on the full participation of the president in his capacity as a candidate,” Jablonski wrote.

In a response that was posted online after hours, Kemp said the case referral was “in keeping with Georgia law.”

“As you are aware, OSAH Rule 616-1-2-.17 cited in your letter only applies to parties to a hearing. As the referring agency, the Secretary of State’s Office is not a party to the candidate challenge hearings scheduled for tomorrow. To the extent a request to withdraw the case referral is procedurally available, I do not believe such a request would be judicious given the hearing is set for tomorrow morning.”

He continued, “I expect the administrative law judge to report his findings to me after his full consideration of the evidence and law. Upon receipt of the report, I will fully and fairly review the entire record and initial decision of the administrative law judge.”

He also had a warning about the costs of simply not showing up for a court hearing.

“Anything you and your client place in the record in response to the challenge will be beneficial to my review of the initial decision; however, if you and your client choose to suspend your participation in the OSAH proceedings, please understand that you do so at your own peril.”

“We await your taking the requested action, and as we do so, we will, of course, suspend further participation in these proceedings, including the hearing scheduled for January 26,” Jablonski wrote in the letter on the Taitz site, which indicated it had been sent to the participants in the case.

A blast of sarcasm aimed at Obama also was posted on the Taitz site.

“What Obama is asking now is totally insane,” it said. “He is asking the secretary of state of GA to take the trial away from the judge on the eve of the trial. He is mostly crying on the shoulder of the secretary of state of GA and saying that Orly is bad, because she issued all of those subpoenas. So after the judge told Obama that the subpoena that I issued was perfectly valid and he had to appear in court tomorrow and bring with him all of the documents that I demanded, Obama decided to go behind the back of the judge and send the same complaint about me to the secretary of state and he is asking the secretary of state to take the trial away from the judge.

“Does this look like a behavior of an innocent person? An innocent person would have come to court and showed all the valid documents with the embossed seals, which are verifiable,” the statement said. “Instead he is acting like a 5-year-old brat, saying, ‘I am afraid of Orly, I want the secretary of state of GA to act like my mommy and protect me from Orly.’ Some leader of the free world.”

The hearings are being brought by citizens of Georgia under a state law that allows voters to challenge the eligibility of candidates on the state’s ballot. It is the states that run elections in America, and national elections are just a compilation of the results of the 50 state elections.

The schedule for the hearings was set by Judge Michael Malihi of the Georgia state Office of State Administrative Hearings. The state of Hawaii produced official records documenting birth there; the president made documents available to the general public by placing them on his website,” he wrote.

Jablonski accused Malihi of allowing the attorneys to “run amok.”

“Perhaps he is aware that there is no credible response; perhaps he appreciates that the very demand made of his office – that it address constitutional issues – is by law not within its authority.”

Obama, meanwhile, has a campaign trip to several Midwest and Western states lined up over the next few days.

WND reported earlier on the stunning decision from Malihi, who refused to quash the subpoena even after Obama outlined his defense strategy for such state-level challenges, which have erupted in half a dozen or more states already.

“Presidential electors and Congress, not the state of Georgia, hold the constitutional responsibility for determining the qualifications of presidential candidates,” Obama’s lawyer argued. “The election of President Obama by the presidential electors, confirmed by Congress, makes the documents and testimony sought by plaintiff irrelevant.”

The judge thought otherwise.

15-Year-Old Student Bullied for Supporting Biblical View of Family

Liberty Counsel sent a letter to school officials at Shawano High School after they censored and punished Brandon Wegner, a 15-year-old, for writing an op-ed article explaining the Biblical view of homosexuality and supporting natural mother-father adoption. the school demanding it apologize for its unconstitutional and irrational censorship and humiliation of Brandon.

Brandon quoted several verses from the Bible regarding homosexuality. After Brandon wrote this article he was pulled into hours of meetings with school administrators and staff, without his parents' knowledge. This caused him to miss exam preparation classes and at least one exam.

Brandon was hauled before the superintendent on charges that he had violated the school's bullying policy. Superintendent Todd Carlson told him that the column "went against the bullying policy," and asked him if he "regretted" writing it. When Mr. Wegner stated that he did not regret writing it, and that he stood behind his beliefs, Superintendent Carlson told him that he "had got to be one of the most ignorant kids to try to argue with him about this topic," that "we have the power to suspend you if we want to" and that the column had "personally offended me, so I know you offended other people!"

The First Amendment protects the opinions of all, including student journalists. The bullying at Shawano High School is by Superintendent Todd Carlson and the school officials, not the student, Brandon Wegner. The school officials have displayed blatant intolerance of a view on homosexuality held by many people. The school's actions are shocking and unjustified. The superintendent should immediately apologize and stop the bullying.

Our republic as America’s founders created it is under assault from extremists outside our country and anti-constitutionalists inside our country. Combined with the flailing American economy and global markets, Western civilization remains on the brink, as experts and all the GOP presidential candidates agree.

President Obama has tried and failed miserably to fix our economy, deepening us and our posterity into more than $6 trillion in additional national debt – something he criticized former President Bush for as “unpatriotic” and “irresponsible.” Yet unemployment rates remain at higher levels than when Obama was elected, and the dollar is as unstable as the Middle East.

As important as it is, now is not the time to be mincing through minutiae and infighting via typical partisan battles. Rome is burning, and we need to appoint the best firemen possible to rush in and put out her fury. What’s critical at this point is to appoint a commander in chief who can clearly lead America to a more solvent and secure future.

No man or candidate is perfect. We all have skeletons in our closet. If buried bones became unforgivable bones of contention, the world would never know or will never know another Benjamin Franklin, King David and others like them. We must remember that we’re electing a president, not a pastor or pope. And with the mainstream media and a billion-dollar Obama campaign coffer on the president’s side, we need a veteran of political war who has already fought Goliath, because he will be facing Goliath’s bigger brother.

In the last few editions of my weekly column, I detailed “10 questions to find our next president” in no particular order of importance. I proposed that the name of the candidate that fills the majority of the answers deserved readers’ vote.

1. Who is most committed to follow and lead by the U.S. Constitution?

2. Who has the greatest leadership ability to rally, unify and mobilize citizens across political and societal spectrums?

3. Who has the best working comprehension of America?

4. Who has the best ability to influence a volatile world away from its brink of destruction?

5. Who has clear and present moral fortitude?

6. Who can best beat President Barack Obama (in and outside of debates)?

7. Who has the best abilities to lead Washington politics and politicians?

8. Who has the best plan and leadership ability to restore America’s economy?

9. Who is the most fiscally prudent?

10. Who has demonstrated the highest regard for human life?

For my wife, Gena, and I, we sincerely believe former Speaker Newt Gingrich is the answer to most of those questions and deserves our endorsement and vote.

We agree with our friend and governor of the great state of Texas, Rick Perry, when he suspended his campaign and endorsed Gingrich, that Newt “has the heart of a conservative reformer.” We believe Newt’s experience, leadership, knowledge, wisdom, faith and even humility to learn from his failures (personal and public) can return America to her glory days. And he is the best man left on the battlefield who is able to outwit, outplay and outlast Obama and his campaign machine.

I would only challenge and call Newt to fulfill the rallying strategy he outlined in South Carolina in November by utilizing the expertise and skill sets of the other GOP presidential candidates (even those who have bowed out) among his future administration. Newt explained:

I do approach this whole campaign, I think, differently from everybody else. We have a number of friends who are also running. We have no opponents except Barack Obama. I think that’s very important. I think [Abraham] Lincoln was very wise, as was captured in a book called “Team of Rivals,” in actually developing literally everybody who [was] his opponent ended up in the [presidential] Cabinet, because he needed all of them in order to be able to put together the political power during the crisis that we faced. I would say the same thing. I don’t know a single person currently running who wouldn’t be a very effective member of an administrative team who doesn’t have real talent and in some way would bring a unique strength. I don’t have any opponents on the Republican side.

Again, as Gov. Perry said during his “strategic retreat” (citing Gen. Sam Houston) from the GOP presidential race, “This mission is greater than any one man.”

I’m tired of watching our country being torn to shreds by those who think the answer is more government debt and control. I’m tired of being in bondage to a tax system that robs U.S. citizens like the king of England did before the Revolution. I’m tired of watching our sovereignty being sold by foreign loans and loose borders. And I will not sit back and merely watch this decay and degradation of the U.S. and then hand it over to my children and grandchildren to deal with.

That is why Gena and I have committed the rest of our lives to help Old Glory rise again to her heights of splendor. And that is why we are endorsing and standing with Newt Gingrich, because we believe he can lead all of us who have committed to the same.

If you’re ready to keep fighting the good fight and once and for all restore our republic, then I invite you to join my wife, Gena, and I by endorsing, rallying behind and voting for Newt Gingrich as GOP nominee and then president of the United States.

Ron Paul Hot Air Balloon Taken Down After SCHP Request

Balloon Causes Traffic Slowdown On SC Interstate

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. -- It's deflated now, but a Ron Paul hot air balloon along the side of Interstate 85 caused traffic to slow down Thursday morning.

The balloon could be seen from a South Carolina Department Of Transportation camera.

DOT officials say the balloon had Ron Paul's name on it.

People looking at the balloon slowed down around Pelham Road in Greenville County causing a four-mile backup at one point.

SC Department of Public Safety spokesman Sid Gaulden told News 4 that the South Carolina Highway Patrol asked the operator of the hot air balloon, Remus Toppeta of Greer, to take it down because it was causing a hazard.

Gaudlin said SCHP gave Toppeta a written warning for improper lane use because the balloon was set up in the middle of the frontage road.

Student's Opinion Column Censored for Promoting Natural Adoption

School officials at Shawano High School needlessly censored and apologized for a 15-year-old's op-ed article supporting natural mother-father adoption. It was a part of an editorial page which presented both viewpoints, each articulated by students. After the school newspaper was published in the local town paper, a homosexual in the community complained to the school. School officials took immediate action and censored the article supporting natural adoption.

In its statement, the school "sincerely apologized" for the Biblical viewpoint presented by one student. The school claimed that the censored article created a "negative environment." Liberty Counsel believes that school officials have violated the First Amendment protections of both free expression and religious freedom. It is acceptable for school officials to render entire topics off limits, but once they allow a topic to be addressed, they may not dictate which opinions are acceptable and which are not. For the school to apologize for just one side of the argument sends a clear and biased message in favor of the other side.

The school has thus sacrificed constitutional freedoms on the altar of political correctness. Shawano's actions were not only unconstitutional, but were also the deepest form of educational hypocrisy. This is not education, it is indoctrination. The school should apologize - not for the student's viewpoint, but for its shameful censorship.

Rick Perry Drops Presidential Bid, Throws Support to Newt Gingrich

Rick Perry dropped out of the presidential race Thursday and endorsed Newt Gingrich, a move that comes just two days before the South Carolina Republican primary.

The Texas governor, saying he will return to his state "with pride," announced in South Carolina that "there is no viable path forward for me in this 2012 campaign."

After surging to the front of the GOP field upon entering the race last summer, Perry struggled to sustain that support and endured disappointing finishes in the leadoff Iowa and New Hampshire contests. He said Thursday he entered the race with a "sense of calling," but realizes "when it's time to make a strategic retreat."

"I've always believed the mission is greater than the man," Perry said.

The Texas governor offered a brief but robust endorsement of former House speaker Gingrich on his way out of the race, calling him a "conservative visionary." While Perry is polling only in single digits in South Carolina, his endorsement could make a difference in the tightening contest if his supporters gravitate toward a particular candidate.

"Newt is not perfect, but who among us is? The fact is there is forgiveness for those who seek God. And I believe in the power of redemption," Perry said. "I have no question that Newt Gingrich has the heart of a conservative reformer, the ability to rally and captivate the conservative movement."

Gingrich said in a statement he is "humbled and honored" to have Perry's support.

Perry was seen as competing for social conservative supporters alongside Rick Santorum and Gingrich, though the latter two candidates were faring much better in the polls.

GOP Rejects Obama Debt Hike, but ...

Republican-led House's vote against Obama's request to raise the debt ceiling is largely symbolic, as president will still have authority to raise debt limit if Senate passes the measure.

WASHINGTON – The House of Representatives voted Wednesday to reject a request by President Obama to raise the debt ceiling -- a largely symbolic vote, since the Senate is expected to allow the debt ceiling hike.

The House voted, 239-176, in support of a measure that voices opposition to the increase. Six Democrats voted along with Republicans to oppose the debt ceiling increase. House Republicans had only one defection -- California Rep. David Dreier.

The proposal came before the House as part of the bipartisan debt deal struck in August. Under the deal, Obama was required the submit a request to Congress to raise the debt ceiling in three stages. The latest request, which was the final stage, would raise the debt ceiling by another $1.2 trillion.

Despite Wednesday's vote, Obama would still have the authority to raise the debt limit unless the Senate follows suit. Even then, both chambers would likely need to muster a two-thirds majority in order to override a presidential veto. The Senate is expected to vote next week on the resolution, a senior Senate Democratic leadership aide told Fox News.

Under last year's debt increase law, supported by all of the top GOP leaders on Capitol Hill, the debt limit is automatically raised 15 days after the president officially notifies lawmakers that the government is close to the current $15.2 trillion cap -- unless Congress votes to deny the borrowing increase.

The political dance choreographed under last summer's Budget Control Act was designed to permit lawmakers, mostly Republicans, to vote against the debt increase but not actually block it, which would provoke a first-ever, market-rattling default on U.S. government obligations.

The debate offered Tea Party-backed GOP freshmen an opportunity to cast blame on the White House and Democratic-controlled Senate for the nation's fiscal ills. The national debt has skyrocketed during Obama's first term -- from $10.6 trillion on Inauguration Day to $15.2 trillion today. Much of the blame lies with the deep recession Obama inherited, which made revenues plummet, but almost $1 trillion of the increase can be attributed to Obama's 2009 deficit-financed economic stimulus bill.

"Instead of giving the president more power to spend money we do not have, Congress should work together to find ways to cut spending and put America back on a path to fiscal responsibility," said Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C.

Democrat Jared Polis of Colorado said that even under last year's nonbinding House GOP budget plan, the national debt would have risen by more than $5 trillion over the coming decade anyway. And he pointed out that the new borrowing authority is needed to pay for a $1 trillion-plus omnibus spending bill that many Republicans supported just last month.

"We're here playing a counter-productive and absurd game," Polis said.

Even one GOP veteran said Wednesday's debate was a futile exercise, given how the August debt pact intentionally stacked the cards in Obama's favor.

"We have in effect given the president of the United States the ability to raise the debt ceiling without us not having any control whatsoever," said veteran Rep. Dan Burton, R-Ind. "We gave the president carte blanche and it's dead wrong."

The House passed a similar resolution in September after Obama used his authority to raise the debt cap by $500 billion.

Last year's debt agreement permits a total debt limit increase of $2.1 trillion in exchange for an equivalent amount in spending cuts, which would be spread out over the coming decade. The first $900 billion comes from caps on the day-to-day operations of federal agencies.

Group blasts Gingrich for limiting hires to Muslims who renounce Shariah law

The largest Muslim civil liberties group in the United States on Wednesday condemned Newt Gingrich for saying he would only hire Muslims to his administration if they renounced the use of Islam's Shariah law as a tool for U.S. government.

Calling Gingrich "one of the nation's worst promoters of anti-Muslim bigotry," the Council of American Islamic Relations suggested the Republican presidential candidate is a segregationist.

"Newt Gingrich's vision of America segregates our citizens by faith. His outdated political ideas look backward to a time when Catholics and Jews were vilified and their faiths called a threat," said CAIR Legislative Director Corey Sayolor in a statement.

"The time for bias in American politics has passed and Newt Gingrich looks like a relic of an ugly era," Sayolor said.

CAIR said the release was prompted by the candidate's remarks Tuesday in Columbia when, asked if he would ever endorse a Muslim running for president.

"It would depend entirely on whether they would commit in public to give up Shariah," Gingrich said.

"A truly modern person who happened to worship Allah would not be a threat, a person who belonged to any kind of belief in Shariah, any effort to impose it on the rest of us, would be a mortal threat," Gingrich told the crowd, adding that he's "totally opposed" to Shariah law being applied in American courts and favors a federal law that "preempts" its use.

This month, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals struck down an Oklahoma ban on the application of "Sharia law" and "international law" in courts.

Pointing to the religious freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment, CAIR defends Shariah law as a set of beliefs that "teaches marital fidelity, generous charity and a thirst for knowledge," and mandates that Muslims respect the law of the land in which they live.

Gingrich had a different interpretation of Shariah law, pointing to the, "rising Islamization of Turkey has been accompanied by a 1,400 percent increase in women being killed."

"When you look at the application of Shariah in places like Iran, when you look at churches being burned in Nigeria and Egypt, and that the decline of Christians in Iraq from a million, 200 thousand when the Americans arrived to about 500,000 today, I think it depends entirely on the person," he said.

"If they are a modern person integrated in the modern world and they are prepared to recognize all religions, that's one thing. On the other hand, if they're Saudis, who demand that we respect them while they refuse to allow Christians to worship in Saudi Arabia, that's something different," he continued.

Later in the day during a question and answer session in Aiken, S.C., Gingrich also called the Ground Zero mosque "a deliberate and willful insult to the people of the United States who suffered an attack by people who are motivated by the same thing."

"I think the time has come for us to have an honest conversation about Islamic radicalism. I don't think we should be intimidated by our political elites, and I don't think we should be intimidated by universities who have been accepting money from the Saudis and who, therefore, now have people who are apologists for the very people who want to kill us," he said.

Judge suspects conspiracy between Eric Holder's DOJ and abortion clinic to violate pro-lifers' First Amendment rights

We have successfully defended Mary Susan Pine. A federal judge has ended Attorney General Eric Holder's two-year political prosecution of this pro-life educator. Holder accused Pine of obstructing the entrance to an abortion clinic, in violation of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act ("FACE").

In granting summary judgment, Judge Kenneth L. Ryskamp concluded that the government lacked evidence to prove not just one, but "all three elements of its FACE claim." Judge Ryskamp chastised Holder for seeking to apply federal law in a clearly unconstitutional manner: "Stretching the terms of FACE to apply to this case ... would unjustifiably impinge on Ms. Pine's First Amendment rights."

The Government's decision to prosecute Pine despite having no evidence of wrongdoing prompted Judge Ryskamp to suspect a conspiracy at the highest level of the Obama Administration: "The Court is at a loss as to why the Government chose to prosecute this particular case in the first place," he wrote. "The Court can only wonder whether this action was the product of a concerted effort between the Government and the PWC [Presidential Women's Center], which began well before the date of the incident at issue, to quell Ms. Pine's activities rather than to vindicate the rights of those allegedly aggrieved by Ms. Pine's conduct."

This is a tremendous victory not just for Susan Pine, but for the First Amendment and the pro-life movement. Attorney General Holder sought to use federal law as a billy club against pro-lifers, but received instead a clobbering from the very Constitution he had sworn to protect.

According to National Journal, the often strange campaign of Jon Huntsman will come to an end tomorrow in a formal withdrawal from the Republican presidential nomination race. Huntsman plans to endorse Mitt Romney on his way out:

Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman will announce on Monday that he is dropping his bid for the Republican presidential nomination after a disappointing finish in last week’s New Hampshire primary, a source confirmed to National Journal.

Huntsman will endorse Republican front-runner Mitt Romney, squashing any potential rumors that he will seek to run as an independent candidate.

The New York Times also hears the same thing:

Jon M. Huntsman Jr. informed his advisers on Sunday that he intends to drop out of the Republican presidential race, ending his candidacy a week before he had hoped to revive his campaign in the South Carolina primary.

Mr. Huntsman, who had struggled to live up to the soaring expectations of his candidacy, made plans to make an announcement as early as Monday. He had been set to participate in an evening debate in Myrtle Beach.

Matt David, campaign manager to Mr. Huntsman, confirmed the decision in an interview Sunday evening. “The governor and his family, at this point in the race, decided it was time for Republicans to rally around a candidate who could beat Barack Obama and turn around the economy,” Mr. David said. “That candidate is Gov. Mitt Romney.”

A third-place finish in the New Hampshire primary last week failed to jump start his flagging candidacy, aides said, and his campaign limped into South Carolina with little money. Mr. Huntsman has spent days pondering his future in the race, but aides said that he concluded he was unlikely to topple Mitt Romney or match the momentum of his Republican rivals in the conservative Southern primary.

That was the obvious conclusion after Tuesday’s third-place finish, far back of Romney in the state Huntsman made his stand. Earlier this week, I asked where Huntsman thought his path to victory lay, because it certainly wasn’t going to be South Carolina, Florida, or Michigan. It took Huntsman a few more days than everyone else, but eventually recognized reality.

I used the usual joke in the subhead, but does this really help Mitt Romney? Huntsman’s core of voters in New Hampshire were Democrats, people who didn’t like the Tea Party, and people who generally approve of Barack Obama’s job performance. Where would these voters have gone in this primary without Huntsman anyway? Perhaps a few might have migrated to Ron Paul, but that’s hard to imagine. Romney will graciously accept the endorsement, but it’s not going to change his position much in the next few states anyway. Romney’s better off with more people in the race, not fewer.

Update: Normally National Journal’s Reid Wilson is a good analyst, but he’s way off with this:

Huntsman had sought to portray himself as an electable, pragmatic alternative to the Republican field. He made a point to support teaching the theory of evolution and to acknoweldge the science behind climate change, and he cast himself more recently as the only candidate who has put service to the nation before his own political party, by serving as President Obama’s ambassador to China.

But his message was out of step with a Republican base driven by Tea Party populism and anger with the political status quo almost from the moment he began running. If Huntsman didn’t represent that status quo, voters certainly didn’t see their anger reflected in his calm demeanor. …

He was, in essence, the answer to a call for a pragmatic centrist who could reach out to Democrats that no one in the Republican Party ever made.

As I responded on Twitter, Jon Huntsman wasn’t a “pragmatic centrist who could reach out to Democrats.” He governed in Utah as a conservative in a state controlled by the GOP, but talked like a centrist who despised conservatives. Huntsman’s expensive and embarrassing flop really isn’t much more complicated than that.

Still reeling from the Obama administration’s ongoing socialist makeover of their country, most Americans have understandably focused their outrage on the executive and legislative branches of government, watching a rogue president and radicalized Congress wreak havoc on the freest, most prosperous nation on earth.

Yet, the branch of government arguably most responsible for the “fundamental transformation of America” is neither the executive nor legislative. As the January issue of WND’s monthly Whistleblower magazine dramatically shows, the most arrogant, unaccountable and transformational branch of government today is the judiciary, which, virtually unshackled from the Constitution, has declared itself the supreme branch of government.

Unquestionably, the most consequential downward changes America has suffered in recent decades – corruptions of law, foundational values and core institutions so radical that no president, no Congress, no governor or state legislature, could conceivably implement them – have been forced on Americans by a rogue judiciary.

Wantonly irrational and unconstitutional judicial decisions are now the norm – from the California judge who overruled the will of millions of voters and single-handedly legalized same-sex marriage in that state (only to later reveal he himself is a homosexual in a long-term relationship with another man – a gross conflict of interest); to the Ninth Circuit ruling that schoolchildren can’t say “under God” when reciting the Pledge of Allegiance; to the Texas judge who threatened to throw students in jail for praying or even uttering words like “prayer” or “amen” at a graduation ceremony; to the Supreme Court’s notorious 2005 Kelo decision allowing local governments literally to confiscate a citizen’s property and award it to another party if that “taking” increased their tax revenues; to the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that invented the “constitutional right” to kill preborn children – 50 million and counting.

And for every high-profile case like these, there are a multitude of others – like that of the Vermont judge who took a little girl away from her loving, Christian, biological mother and awarded full custody instead to the mother’s one-time lesbian partner who reportedly gives the child nightmares – decisions that, over time, have degraded Americans’ basic freedoms, faith, institutions and values.

Worse, Americans have long been deceived into believing there’s nothing they can do – that once a judge rules, it’s “game over,” especially when the Supreme Court decides a case. Only a constitutional amendment can trump a Supreme Court decision, we’ve been taught.

Wrong.

As “JUDGES GONE WILD” reveals, though America’s judiciary has usurped power it does not constitutionally possess, it is only the cowardice and complicity of the other two branches of government – executive and legislative – and the ignorance of state governments and the general public that keep the modern myth of “judicial supremacy” alive.

Pentagon condemns Marines’ behavior in graphic video, as unit identified

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta on Thursday harshly condemned alleged behavior in a video that appears to show U.S. Marines urinating on the corpses of Taliban fighters. The Pentagon chief said he'd ordered a full investigation into the alleged incident, which comes amid sensitive diplomatic initiatives to try to advance reconciliation talks with the Taliban.

"I have seen the footage, and I find the behavior depicted in it utterly deplorable," Panetta said in a press statement sent to Yahoo News Thursday. "I condemn it in the strongest possible terms."

Pentagon investigators have already identified two of the four U.S. Marines who appear on the video, the Associated Press reported Thursday.

"A Marine official said Thursday that the four were members of the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines, which returned to its home base in North Carolina last fall after a tour in Afghanistan," the AP report said. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing criminal investigation, said that "at least some of the four Marines are no longer in that battalion," the AP said.

The video--which went viral after being posted to YouTube on Wednesday--appears to show four American Marines urinating on the corpses of three Taliban fighters. (Due to its graphic content, Yahoo has posted an edited version of the posted video from ABC News, which you can see above.)

"Have a nice day, buddy,' one of the alleged U.S. Marines said on the video.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Thursday "condemned the video, describing the men's actions as 'inhuman' and calling for an investigation," Reuters reported.

Panetta called Karzai Thursday to convey his horror at the alleged incident and promise a full investigation, Pentagon spokesman George Little said.

Panetta told Karzai "that the conduct depicted in the footage is utterly deplorable, and that it does not reflect the standards or values American troops are sworn to uphold," Little told journalists in a press readout of the call Thursday. "The Secretary also noted in the conversation that he has ordered that the video be immediately and fully investigated."

Panetta ordered the Marine Corps and the top U.S commander in Afghanistan Gen. John Allen to launch an immediate and full investigation of the alleged incident, which will hold the responsible parties accountable for their conduct.

He was joined in his condemnation by Senate Armed Services Committee ranking Republican John McCain (R-Ariz.), who said the alleged behavior by a few individuals in the video does not represent the honorable conduct and service of hundreds of thousands of U.S. troops.

Ok, I'm not seeing what the big deal is here. The Islamic terrorists and Taliban regime have posted some pretty horrible videos online of American soldiers being beheaded and tortured. Instead of negotiating with devils like these people the United States should be wiping them off the map. I see little wrong with what the troops did in this video. The Taliban are evil murderers that want America destroyed and all of us dead.

Man charged after baby found in McPherson Square tent

A man is facing child cruelty charges after his 13-month-old daughter was found alone in a tent in the Occupy DC camp at McPherson Square.

Occupy members told authorities that a baby was alone in a tent at about 10 a.m. Wednesday, said Sgt. David Schlosser, a U.S. Park Police spokesman. Officers found the girl alone in the tent with no adults around. The baby had been alone for at least half an hour, Schlosser said.

A man returned to the park while police were investigating and said he was the baby's father, Schlosser said. The man was charged with attempted second-degree cruelty to children. Schlosser would not release the man's name, saying doing so could identify the child.

It was raining and the temperature was in the mid-40s when officers found the baby, Schlosser said. He said emergency responders examined the girl, who was found to be healthy.

Schlosser said he didn't know whether the man arrested was part of the Occupy DC contingent.

Documents have been uncovered revealing the Department of Homeland Security, run by Janet Napolitano under Barack Obama’s direction, is monitoring dozens of popular websites such as Facebook, Twitter, the Drudge Report, the Middle East Media Research Institute, and Jihad Watch, and is collecting “personally identifiable information.”

The documents first were uncovered by Reuters, and have been confirmed as genuine by Washington officials.

A document dated Nov. 15, 2011, and titled “Privacy Compliance Review of the NOC Media Monitoring Initiative” explained the program.

The government, the document said, “monitored publicly available online forums, blogs, public websites, and message boards to collect information used in providing situational awareness and establishing a common operating picture.”

Included in the information collected, the document confirmed, were “limited instances of personally identifiable information.” The data is used by the DHS and other agencies including the U.S. Secret Service and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The full list of sites included Vimeo, YouTube and Myspace Video. Also on the list are Stormpulse, Flickr, TwitterAPI, Radio on Twitter, TV on Twitter, TweetStats, AllAfrica, CNOnews, Cryptome, Global Security Newswire, Google Blog, Homeland Security Today, Jihad Watch, MEMRI, MS-13 News, Plowshares Fund, STRATFOR, Science Daily and dozens of others.

The spy operation was “permitted to collect PII on the following categories of individuals when it lends credibility to the report or facilities coordination with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, foreign, or international government partners:”

SHERIFF JOE TO ERIC HOLDER: ‘PROVE IT!’

Maverick Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio is challenging the Obama administration’s Department of Justice to present evidence to back its charge that his office is discriminating against Hispanics.

“Prove it,” Arpaio said in remarks directed at Holder in an interview with WND.

“If Eric Holder has evidence that the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has engaged in systematic violations of the civil rights of Hispanic, then show me the evidence,” Arpaio said.

Arpaio contends that the 22-page complaint the Department of Justice released Dec. 15 against his office was nothing more than anecdotal and didn’t prove there are systematic sheriff’s department policies aimed at depriving Hispanics in Maricopa County of their civil rights.

Nor was Arpaio concerned that the DOJ might take him and his sheriff’s department to federal court.

“If the Justice Department wants to take me to court, I’m ready,” Arpaio said.

Arpaio was responding to a statement emailed today to WND in which the DOJ threatened to go to court immediately rather than show Arpaio’s office and the U.S. public the evidence it claims to have.

“If MCSO wants to debate the facts instead of fixing the problems stated in our findings, we will do so by way of litigation,” DOJ said in the statement.

The statement implied the DOJ already has rejected an offer of cooperation made yesterday by attorneys representing MCSO in a cover letter to the MCSO 38-page response to the DOJ complaint.

In the cover letter, Arpaio attorney Joseph J. Popolizio made it clear that the sheriff was willing to cooperate with Holder and the DOJ, but only if the DOJ revealed to the MCSO and the public its proof.

“Sheriff Joseph M. Arpaio and the MCSO are certainly interested in constructive dialogue, but constructive dialogue can only occur if the DOJ provides the facts and information on which it bases its findings,” Popolizio wrote.

Nothing more than a political attack?

Arpaio also took exception to the DOJ assertion that the federal investigation against his office began under the Bush administration.

“There may have been complaints filed with the Justice Department under the Bush administration,” Arpaio conceded, “but we were first notified in March 2009 – in the Obama administration’s first 100 days – that the Department of Justice had begun a formal investigation of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.”

Arpaio pointed out that after three years of cooperating with the Justice Department investigation, the his office was given only one-hour’s advance notice that the report was going to be released.

On the morning of Dec. 15, the Justice Department called officials of the Sheriff’s office to a 9 a.m. meeting, refusing to disclose in advance the purpose of the meeting.

One hour later, at 10 a.m. local time, Perez held a press conference in Phoenix, making the Arpaio report public.

DOJ officials turned away MCSO representatives from attending the press conference, claiming the room was too full to permit additional attendees.

Arpaio questioned the timing of the press conference, noting that Dec. 15 was one day after the first anniversary of the gun battle near the Arizona border in which Border Patrol Agent Brian A. Terry was gunned down by illegal immigrants armed with weapons supplied by the Justice Department in the now controversial “Fast and Furious” gun-walking operation that has brought Holder under considerable political pressure to resign.

Clearly, winning the Latino vote is a key presidential election strategy for the Democratic Party in 2012.

On Sept. 28, Obama gave a White House interview to three Latino journalists in which he singled out Arpaio by name and declared Maricopa County should not be taken as the “model” for U.S. immigration laws.

The Obama administration chose to make public allegations resulting from a three-year DOJ investigation after Arpaio authorized a MCSO Cold Case Posse to investigate Obama’s birth certificate and his eligibility to be president under Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution.

Moreover, the DOJ in delivering the Dec. 15 complaint indicated Arapio’s office would have only two months to comply – timing coincident with the scheduled February 2012 release of the Cold Case Posse’s investigation.

Arpaio reminded WND that he is a sheriff, elected by the voters of Maricopa County. As such, he is the chief law enforcement officer in the county, not an appointed law enforcement officer responsible to the mayor, a state attorney general or even to the attorney general of the United States.

“I report to the people of Maricopa County,” Arpaio said, “and I intend to continue enforcing the immigration laws of the state of Arizona as long as I hold this office.”

Arpaio also told WND that he intends to run for re-election as Maricopa County sheriff in 2012, despite efforts organized in Phoenix by activist-attorney Randy Parraz to pressure the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors into demanding Arpaio’s resignation.

Hit by plummeting poll numbers in recent days, Gingrich is likely now to hold on until the South Carolina primary on January 21 and hope for the backing of conservatives there.

His main rival, Mitt Romney, is expected to handily win the next vote, in New Hampshire on Tuesday, leaving South Carolina as the main battleground in the early balloting for the Republican nomination to challenge Democratic President Barack Obama in the November election.

Gingrich, known for his feisty nature during his time in the House of Representatives, had vowed not to have a negative campaign in Iowa. But he lashed out at Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, blaming SuperPAC fundraising groups linked to Romney and libertarian Ron Paul for the negative TV ads that knocked him from atop the Iowa polls.

"Together I think we survived the biggest onslaught in the history of the Iowa primary," Gingrich said.

"We aren't going to go out and run nasty ads," Gingrich told supporters after it became clear he had won just 13 percent of the Iowa vote.

"But I do reserve the right to tell the truth. And if the truth seems negative, that may be more a comment on (Romney's) record than it is on politics," he said, vowing to strike back by challenging Romney's conservative credentials in the weeks ahead.

It would seem that few scientists have the courage to challenge this idea they know is wrong because it might make them appear to oppose evolution! But even worse is that this anti-scientific idea continues to be used as a "scientific" justification for abortion.

Just as famed Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is preparing to release results of his investigation of Barack Obama’s eligibility for Arizona’s 2012 ballot, a top-gun activist who led a successful campaign to recall a key Arpaio ally is now targeting the sheriff himself.

In the coming weeks, it will be decided whether transplanted radical attorney-activist and “community organizer” Randy Parraz can force Arpaio to resign before the sheriff’s Cold Case Posse has a chance to deliver a report in February.

Parraz, who has made his career applying Saul Alinsky-style community organizer tactics for radical leftist movements in the U.S. and Canada, has told WND that Arpaio “has to go.”

Arpaio’s response: “No way will I resign,” he told WND.

Parraz’s skills as a leftist political activist are not to be underestimated. Last year, he helped lead the recall campaign that removed long-time Arizona State Senate President Russell Pearce after Pearce championed the passage of Arizona’s tough immigration bill, SB 1070.

With Pearce gone, Parraz has set his sites on Arpaio.

“Our focus right now is to hold Sheriff Arpaio accountable for what he has done – his abuse of power, the corruption, all the things he has done under his leadership,” Parraz told WND in a telephone interview. “We need to have a fresh start; we need to get him out

Parraz said “the only way we can do this is to engage the citizens in a way in which they have never been engaged before.”

He has focused his strategy on the five-person Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, the governing body that directly oversees the operation of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

“We are going to the Jan. 11 meeting of the Board of Supervisors to get placed on the agenda the recent Department of Justice and the report of the 400 uninvestigated sex crimes,” he explained.

A vote of three of the five supervisors or a decision by the chairman is required to get an item placed on the board’s agenda.

As WND reported, the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice has issued a 22-page report charging that the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has engaged in racial profiling of Hispanics and other violations of federal civil rights laws.

Parraz’s maneuver is strictly political, since the Board of Supervisors lacks the authority to force the sheriff to resign.

For the first time in dozens of court cases challenging Barack Obama’s eligibility to be president, a judge has ruled that Obama must, in order to be a candidate on the Georgia ballot for president in 2012, meet the constitutional demands for candidates for the office.

A hearing has been scheduled later this month for evidence on the issue that has plagued Obama and his presidency since long before he took office. At issue is the constitutional requirement that a president be a “natural-born citizen.” Some allege he was not born in the U.S. as he has claimed and, therefore, is not eligible.

Others, including top constitutional expert Herb Titus, contend that the term “natural-born citizen,” which is not defined in the Constitution, would have been understood when the document was written to mean the offspring of two U.S. citizens. That argument is supported by a 19th-century U.S. Supreme Court decision

Under that standard, Obama could not qualify, because his father, as identified on the “Certificate of Live Birth” image released by the White House, was a foreign national who came from Kenya to study in the U.S. and never was a citizen.

HEAR BRAIN SURGEON’S ‘DEATH PANEL’ WARNING

A man identifying himself as a brain surgeon has issued a warning to Americans age 70 and over that the secret plans being developed by the federal government under the Obamacare law will provide only “comfort care” for some ailments.

The stunning statements from the man who was interviewed by radio show host Mark Levin confirmed that there are, indeed, “death panels” being raised to restrict what could be live-saving or life-extending care based on the decisions of bureaucrats.

The issue of such “death panels” early on was cited by former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who said the Obamacare law’s provisions for government panels that would make decisions regarding what treatment would – or would not – be allowed amounted to exactly that.

The words prompted a firestorm of criticism by Obama supporters who said that process simply didn’t exist. Nevertheless, the fact that there will be limits on medical treatment under Obamacare is obvious, analysts have confirmed. The question is how such limits are characterized.

Now the man whose name was not released confirmed to Levin that those panels will exist.

He said shortly before the interview, in November, he had returned from a conference in Washington of an organization of neurosurgeons, and he described that there was a meeting with information presented from the government.

“Basically what the document stated, if you’re over 70 and you come into the emergency room and you’re on government supported care … you get comfort care.”

“Wait a minute,” said Levin. “What’s the source?”

“This is the Obama health care plan for advanced neurosurgical care … Yes, the Health and Human Service [Department] issued [it],” he responded.

He cited the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and another related group, which, when contacted by WND, denied that any such presentation took place, or that the man was, in fact, a physician at all.

The interview:

The AANS said in a prepared statement provided to WND that “an individual claiming to be a ‘brain surgeon’ made several statements referencing neurosurgical care on a Mark Levin radio show segment. The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) reviewed this segment and found that it contained several factual inaccuracies which we wish to clarify.”

The statement continued, “The AANS and CNS are unaware of any federal government document directing that advanced neurosurgery for patients over 70 years of age will not be indicated and only supportive care treatment will be provided. Furthermore, in conducting our own due diligence, it appears that the caller who identified himself as a brain surgeon is not a neurosurgeon, nor was there any session at the recent Congress of Neurological Surgeons’ scientific meeting in Washington, D.C. at which a purported government document calling for the rationing of neurosurgical care was discussed.”

The organization said, “Neurosurgeons are committed to providing timely, compassionate, and state of the art treatment for all patients – regardless of age – who have neurosurgical conditions. As such, we have requested that this podcast be removed from Mark Levin’s website as it portrays inaccurate information which could potentially be harmful to the patients that we serve.”

Levin, however, said the denials are not convincing.

“The gentleman used a fake name on the air, so when the associations say they looked into it and could not find that he was at the conference, that is a straw man,” he told WND.

“My call screener was very comfortable that he was what he said he was and I have no basis to disparage anything he said. He knew of the conference, who knew who was holding the conference, who knew of the various meetings at the conference, and he knew the subject-matter thoroughly.”

He continued, “It seems to me the focus by the deniers should be on uncovering what HHS is up to. Have they dug into it, have they filed FOIA requests, have they interviewed numerous attendees, etc.?”

The man who called to Levin’s show said he and his colleagues found the information “disturbing, because as our population gets old the majority of our patients are over 70 who require stroke therapy, aneurysm therapy.”

He said, “They call them ethics panels or ethics committees who get together and meet and decide where the money would go for hospitals and basically for patients over 70 years of age, that advanced neurosurgical care generally is not indicated,” he said.

Levin said, “So Sarah Palin was right we’re going to have these death panels.”

He questioned whether the caller was certain about the information coming from HHS?

“Yep,” the caller said.

“When will the rest of us become aware … after the election?” Levin continued.

“Probably,” the caller said.

Walking is one of the many things in life that most of us take for granted. Now, for those who can’t, a technological marvel could prove miraculous.

A Defense Department program to develop super-strong soldiers has led to a wearable robot that enables paraplegics to walk.

At 10 leading rehab facilities from Honolulu to Atlanta, Ekso Bionics' Iron Man-style exoskeletons have been quietly tested over the past year, to resounding success.

Simply put, the exoskeleton is a wearable robot that allows a wheelchair user to stand up and walk. It could be a game-changer not only for wounded warriors with spinal cord injuries, but for people with multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barre syndrome, lower extremity weakness or paralysis due to neurological disease or spinal injury.

Wheelchairs have been the go-to solution for more than 1,500 years – the 2002 census estimated 2.8 million U.S. citizens rely on them -- but now Ekso Bionics is literally revolutionizing this space. Its ultimate goal: a robot that is as easy to wear as a pair of jeans, one that requires not only innovative engineering but biomechanics advancements and cyborg-type research.

“Making a robot itself is difficult enough. To add that to the body and put it on like a pair of jeans is a whole other level,” Ekso Bionics CEO Eythor Bender said at a March TEDMed conference in Long Beach, Calif.

While users learn to walk with the exoskeleton -- for some, it is quite literally their first steps -- physical therapists hold a remote control to assist, support and guide them. The exoskeleton can be modified to fit a person ranging from 5-foot-2 to 6-foot-2, with a maximum weight of 220 pounds. While there are some contraindications, many are capable of passing the medical screening and evaluation to use the device, the company has said.

In its current phase, a candidate must have the upper body strength to transfer from a wheelchair to a regular chair and to balance with crutches.

The next stage involves artificial intelligence and the user going solo. With that model, he’ll be able to initiate a step by leading with his arms and crutches and driving the opposite foot forward. The Ekso’s brain identifies body movement signals and converts them into movement of the exoskelton’s “hips” and “knees.”

This next generation will be available for trial within the next six months; it is currently undergoing clinical trials at the Kessler Institute.

Texas Teen Ben Breedlove Posted Powerful Videos Before Christmas Death

A Texas teenager who said he cheated death three times despite a dangerous heart condition died Christmas night from a heart attack, but not before posting a two-part video on YouTube telling his story and describing a series of powerful visions.

In the videos that have since gone viral, 18-year-old Ben Breedlove of Austin can be seen silently sitting in a room and using handwritten note cards to tell his story. The teen suffered from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition in which one part of the heart is thicker than the other parts, making it difficult for the heart to pump blood.

He described cheating death three times.

The most recent scare was Dec. 6, when he passed out at school and awoke surrounded by EMS medics preparing to use shock pads to revive him.

He posted a two-part video Dec. 18 titled "This is my story." One week later, on Christmas night, he suffered a heart attack and died. As of this afternoon, the first video had been viewed online more than 476,000 times.

"It was obvious to all of us that knew him that he knew what he was doing when he made that video," close family-friend Pam Kohler said. "There are times that [the family is] overwhelmed by the pain and the loss of Ben, but then it's replaced with knowing that he was at peace with what was going to happen."

Kohler said Breedlove loved coming to her house in the country where he taught her how to make and post YouTube videos for her husband's business and loved going hunting with him.

He had two popular YouTube channels, "BreedloveTV" and "OurAdvice4You," on which he would talk about his own life as well as dishing out relationship advice for his peers. Facebook and YouTube have been inundated with tributes to Breedlove.

"When you think of Ben, you can't help but smile," Kohler said. "He was curious, creative. You never knew what he was up to. He was always full of surprises. We look on all of it as a gift from God through Ben."

Kohler and her husband, Mark Kohler, were driving to the Breedlove home Christmas when they first realized something might be wrong.

"We were going over to share Christmas dinner with them that night and on our way over there, a police car passed us with sirens on," Kohler said. "My husband said, 'Start praying because it could be Ben.'"

When they arrived at the house, they saw ambulances and fire trucks. Breedlove had had a heart attack and medics were trying to revive him. He made it to the hospital, but died there.

At this point, Kohler said the family did not know about Breedlove's last videos. He had shared his visions with his sister, but no one had seen the videos.

He said in the video, through note cards, that the first time he cheated death was when he was 4 and described an experience he had in the hospital as he was being wheeled on a stretcher.

"There was this big bright light above me ... I couldn't make out what is was because it was so bright. I told my mom, 'Look at the bright light' and pointed up. She said she didn't see anything," Breedlove wrote. "There were no lights on in this hall. I couldn't take my eyes off it. And I couldn't help but smile. I had no worries at all, like nothing else in the world mattered."

As Breedlove held up each card telling the story, he alternated serious looks with broad smiles. "I cannot even begin to describe the peace, how peaceful it was," he wrote. "I will NEVER forget that feeling or that day.

"Because of the experiences he'd had, he was ready and he was prepared. He really wanted to know that peace again. He was facing more hospital stays and he was tired of it," Kohler said. "He wanted [his family] to know that he wasn't scared and was looking forward to returning to that place."

In the videos, Breedlove went through the details of his journey.

Is this really America?

This is a world unimaginable to our Founders. The very words they wrote to protect us from religious persecution are being twisted into condemnation against our religious expression. Boehner Facing Unrest in Caucus Over Payroll Tax Cut Deal

House Speaker John Boehner is facing the ire of his caucus after striking a deal over their heads to extend the payroll tax cut for two months.

But whether those complaints could imperil his speakership remains to be seen, as the veteran lawmaker and GOP leader projects the message that he did the best he could in tough political circumstances.

In striking the deal with Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, Boehner effectively acknowledged that House Republicans were in danger of taking the fall for a tax hike on Jan. 1. Ron Bonjean, a former top aide to ex-Speaker Dennis Hastert, credited Boehner with giving his members a chance to make their case but said he had to strike a balance.

"When their position became unsustainable, the speaker took a leadership position," Bonjean said.

Whether Boehner's members will see it that way is another matter.

After Boehner unveiled the last-minute deal with Republican rank-and-file late Thursday in a curt conference call, members were incensed.

Court Blocks Florida Inmates From Having Pen Pal Ads

A federal appeals court on Thursday rejected a complaint from pen-pal services that challenged a Florida policy banning inmates from advertising themselves on the online sites.

The operators of WriteAPrisoner.com and two other services claimed the policy violated the free speech rights of the state's inmates. But the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with state officials who argued the Match.com-style listings could lead to security problems.

It's the latest decision in an ongoing legal feud between the online pen-pal sites and corrections officials who have adopted similar policies in several other states. The federal appeals court in Chicago in July upheld a similar restriction adopted by the Indiana Department of Correction.

Florida officials prohibited the online ads in 2004 after receiving complaints about pen pal scams. The rule allowed inmates to correspond with pen pals but banned them from placing ads on sites to find new pals. Inmates who ignore the rule could have privileges such as visitation or phone calls revoked.

WriteAPrisoner and two letter services, Freedom Through Christ Prison Ministry and Prison Pen Pals, argue that the sites play a valuable role in helping inmates. They say many people who use the sites are from religious groups, and that they help inmates rehabilitate by providing them more contact with the outside world.

But prison officials countered that the sites could lead to more money and contraband entering the facilities. The department would have to assign more staffers and to comb through mail to root out any signs of fraudulent schemes or illegal material, state officials said in court records.

In an 18-page ruling, Circuit Judge Charles R. Wilson concluded that allowing inmates to post ads on the sites would place an extra burden on already-strained prison staffs. He said the rules don't violate the inmates' rights, and noted they still allow them to "glean the positive influence" from pen pals using sites that don't require ads.

Florida corrections spokeswoman Ann Howard said the state is pleased with the ruling. WriteAPrisoner.com owner Adam Lovell said the decision blocks his site from offering rehabilitative services to Florida inmates that could have helped reduce recidivism. He is considering whether to appeal.

"The department's rule and today's decision solved a non-existent problem," he said. "It is a sad day for us, but we proudly move on with the support of a very strong base committed to prison reform."

Lovell said the policy has prevented any inmates in Florida state prisons from posting ads, but his site features more than 170 listings from Florida members in federal prison.

They range from a 34-year-old man seeking a pen-pal to ease his "loneliness and despair" to a 32-year-old female who jokes of living in a "wonderful gated community equipped with 24 hour armed security and surveillance."

This was a wise ruling by the courts. Inmates use sites like this to send messages about drop offs of contraband to prisons. And to prey on women, even minors. Most prisons, especially California state prisons are far too easy on inmates. Pretty much catering to them on every issue.

The war against Christmas has only recently come to this nation, but repressive governments in other parts of the world have banned that holy day for many years. From 1969 to 1997, Christmas was banned in Cuba. Christianity Today in 2002 reported that in the Vietnamese province of Dak Lak, children's choirs were forbidden to sing "Silent Night." Such examples are endless. Repressive forces have always had the same goal - to first secularize and then to eliminate Christmas.

Communist leaders of the former Soviet Union banned Christmas, changed the words to Christmas songs and folded all Christmas celebrations into a New Year celebration.

Christians exhibited bravery and courage in confronting Communism's anti-Christmas campaign. One person recalled how the young people would go out in the streets and sing Christmas carols, knowing that if police heard them, they would be arrested. In Communist Romania, Geza Palffy, a priest, delivered a sermon in 1983 protesting against the fact that December 25th had been declared a work day instead of a holiday. The next day he was arrested by secret police, beaten, imprisoned and died.

Before becoming President, Ronald Reagan delivered more than 1,000 three-minute radio broadcasts, writing nearly all of them himself. In one broadcast he told a fascinating story about how Communists gradually changed Christmas in the Ukraine.

Reagan's broadcast recounted that both inside and outside the Iron Curtain, Ukrainians never stopped singing: "We beg you our Lord, we pray to you today. Grant us freedom, return glory to our Mother Ukraine." He ended with: "I guess we all hope their prayer is answered."

And indeed it was.

Gingrich wins Tea Party Patriots straw poll

(CNN) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich won a straw poll hosted by the Tea Party Patriots Sunday.

The Tea Party Patriots announced the results Monday following a conference call held late Sunday when more than 23,000 supporters across the country voted on their selection for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination.

"An overwhelming number of activists from around the nation showed they are serious about electing a candidate who advances tea party principles," said National Coordinator Jenny Beth Martin.

But she added, "Just as in 2010, candidates like Newt Gingrich will need to show they will be fiscally responsible and protect the Constitution in the White House."

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum all responded to questions selected by tea party coordinators that were provided to the candidates in advance.

Iowa Rep. Steve King prefaced candidate responses by observing, "I could make a perfect candidate out of the components" of contenders, but no perfect selection for the GOP nomination exists.

"No candidate has articulated the depth of the financial crisis that we're in," King said. "I want a presidential candidate to give us a date certain by which we would balance the budget."

The congressman, an active tea party supporter, is a kingmaker in the first-in-the-nation caucus state whose endorsement would benefit any campaign. Though he is close with Bachmann, he has not publicly endorsed her candidacy.

Romney touted the importance of America remaining a "merit society" as opposed to an "entitlement nation" on the call, and Bachmann pledged to repeal "Obamacare" by leading the charge to pick up Republican seats in the Senate.

She likened the strategy to that of President Obama's, whom Bachmann said "stole" the Minnesota Senate election that delivered a victory to Sen. Al Franken and sealed the Democratic majority in the chamber.

Santorum trumpeted his Senate experience saying, "I was the only one in this race who actually ended a federal entitlement. Newt talks about it as the speaker, but he wasn't the leader. I was the leader. I actually wrote the Contract with America welfare reform bill and said he was "passionate" about the balanced budget amendment.

Gingrich also reflected on his time in Congress. "When I was speaker, we made the decision to balance the budget," Gingrich said. "It took us about three years, we balanced it for four straight years."

But, according to Gingrich, "(President) Obama has us in much worse shape, so I think it'll take about five years."

Following questions with the candidates, supporters were able to select their choice for the 2012 Republican nomination and rate their enthusiasm for each individual candidate as hypothetical nominee.

Gingrich received 31% support, followed by Bachmann at 28%, and Romney at 20%. Sixteen percent of participants voted for Santorum, 3% selected Texas Rep. Ron Paul, and less than one percent chose Huntsman.

Gingrich may have won the Tea Party Patriots straw poll, but was edged out for the enthusiasm vote amongst supporters. Just slightly more of the participants said they'd by extremely enthusiastic if Bachmann were the nominee over Gingrich at 36-35% –27% said they'd be extremely enthusiastic for Santorum, and one quarter said they'd be extremely enthusiastic if Romney secured the nomination for president.

The tea party group also used the teleforum as a fundraising opportunity, with the goal of banking $25,000 for their activities. By the call's end, they claimed to have raised $22,000.

Military given go-ahead to detain US terrorist suspects without trial

Civil rights groups dismayed as Barack Obama abandons commitment to veto new security law contained in defence bill

Americans can be arrested on home soil and taken to Guantánamo Bay under a provision inserted into the bill that funds the US military.

Barack Obama has abandoned a commitment to veto a new security law that allows the military to indefinitely detain without trial American terrorism suspects arrested on US soil who could then be shipped to Guantánamo Bay.

Human rights groups accused the president of deserting his principles and disregarding the long-established principle that the military is not used in domestic policing. The legislation has also been strongly criticised by libertarians on the right angered at the stripping of individual rights for the duration of "a war that appears to have no end".

The law, contained in the defence authorisation bill that funds the US military, effectively extends the battlefield in the "war on terror" to the US and applies the established principle that combatants in any war are subject to military detention.

The legislation's supporters in Congress say it simply codifies existing practice, such as the indefinite detention of alleged terrorists at Guantánamo Bay. But the law's critics describe it as a draconian piece of legislation that extends the reach of detention without trial to include US citizens arrested in their own country.

"It's something so radical that it would have been considered crazy had it been pushed by the Bush administration," said Tom Malinowski of Human Rights Watch. "It establishes precisely the kind of system that the United States has consistently urged other countries not to adopt. At a time when the United States is urging Egypt, for example, to scrap its emergency law and military courts, this is not consistent."

There was heated debate in both houses of Congress on the legislation, requiring that suspects with links to Islamist foreign terrorist organisations arrested in the US, who were previously held by the FBI or other civilian law enforcement agencies, now be handed to the military and held indefinitely without trial.

The law applies to anyone "who was a part of or substantially supported al-Qaida, the Taliban or associated forces".

Senator Lindsey Graham said the extraordinary measures were necessary because terrorism suspects were wholly different to regular criminals.

"We're facing an enemy, not a common criminal organisation, who will do anything and everything possible to destroy our way of life," he said. "When you join al-Qaida you haven't joined the mafia, you haven't joined a gang. You've joined people who are bent on our destruction and who are a military threat."

Graham added that it was right that Americans should be subject to the detention law as well as foreigners. "It is not unfair to make an American citizen account for the fact that they decided to help Al Qaeda to kill us all and hold them as long as it takes to find intelligence about what may be coming next," he said. "And when they say, 'I want my lawyer,' you tell them, 'Shut up. You don't get a lawyer.'"

Other senators supported the new powers on the grounds that al-Qaida was fighting a war inside the US and that its followers should be treated as combatants, not civilians with constitutional protections.

But another conservative senator, Rand Paul, a strong libertarian, has said "detaining citizens without a court trial is not American" and that if the law passes "the terrorists have won".

"We're talking about American citizens who can be taken from the United States and sent to a camp at Guantánamo Bay and held indefinitely. It puts every single citizen American at risk," he said. "Really, what security does this indefinite detention of Americans give us? The first and flawed premise, both here and in the badly named Patriot Act, is that our pre-9/11 police powers were insufficient to stop terrorism. This is simply not borne out by the facts."

Paul was backed by Senator Dianne Feinstein.

"Congress is essentially authorising the indefinite imprisonment of American citizens, without charge," she said. "We are not a nation that locks up its citizens without charge."

Paul said there were already strong laws against support for terrorist groups. He noted that the definition of a terrorism suspect under existing legislation was so broad that millions of Americans could fall within it.

"There are laws on the books now that characterise who might be a terrorist: someone missing fingers on their hands is a suspect according to the department of justice. Someone who has guns, someone who has ammunition that is weatherproofed, someone who has more than seven days of food in their house can be considered a potential terrorist," Paul said. "If you are suspected because of these activities, do you want the government to have the ability to send you to Guantánamo Bay for indefinite detention?"

The Justice Department's conclusions in the civil probe mark the federal government's harshest rebuke of a national political fixture who has risen to prominence for his immigration crackdowns and became coveted endorsement among candidates in the GOP presidential field.

But Susan will not be silenced. Recently, she spoke with a young couple, unmarried college students, who came to PWC to have an abortion. Susan taught them that each life is precious. When the dad said that the baby would interfere with his education, Susan told him to man up and take responsibility for the life he created.

A clinic escort and police officer hired by the clinic interrupted Susan's consensual conversation, as they often do. The escort physically took the mother into the abortuary. The mom started crying and her cries got louder as they disappeared inside the clinic.

Pine, and those with her, started to pray for the life of the child and the hearts of the parents. Shortly thereafter, the parents came back outside and said that Pine's words had persuaded them to save the baby. They went to a Pregnancy Resource Center and are now receiving the help they need to care for their baby.

Even while targeted and harassed by the federal government, Susan continues to stand for life and defend those who cannot defend themselves. Liberty Counsel is privileged and humbled to have helped her save a life.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. – President Obama marked the end of the Iraq war by welcoming home soldiers to Fort Bragg, N.C., and -- amid discussion of deep cuts to the Pentagon budget -- pledging to continue supporting troops and their families.

After nine years, the war will be over in the next few days "not with a final battle, but with a final march toward home," Obama said Wednesday in his address at the Army post.

4th-graders brainwashed with Occupy 'propaganda'

A Connecticut dad has accused an industry giant in education, Scholastic, of delivering Occupy Wall Street propaganda to his 4th grade daughter in her school classroom.

The company's response?

"We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns with us and I made sure that staff in our corporate headquarters will see your comments. Again, thank you. We truly appreciate your support of Scholastic Book Clubs."

The father, Edward, whose last name is being withheld so his daughter is not identified, told WND it was the standard, "We don't care about your opinion" response that he expected.

But he said he'll be pursuing the issue with his local school district.

The issue arose over the Scholastic News handout given to students and dated Dec. 5 and Dec. 12:

It describes the Occupy Wall Street movement, which has been tied to professional agitators linked to groups funded by billionaire radical George Soros.

It's also been accused of being anti-Semitic and to have been given support from Islamic groups that are strong supporters of the so-called Free Gaza Movement.

Scholastic, which declined to respond to a WND request for comment, however, said the Occupy protesters "started with about 1,000 protesters," who mostly were "college students or recent graduates without jobs."

The company's website says it is pledged "to uphold the basic freedoms of all individuals" and it is opposed "to any system of government or society that denies these freedoms."

It continues, "Good citizens may honestly differ on important public questions. We believe that all sides of the issues of our times should be fairly discussed – with deep respect for facts and logical thinking – in classroom magazines, books…"

But Scholastic's report about Occupy said "most of their complaints are about today's tough economic times and who should be blamed for them." And the report said "protesters say that they make up the other 99 percent. They argue that big companies are making too much money as millions of Americans have lost their jobs or even their homes."

It doesn't mention the rampant crime that has been documented at various Occupy protest sites, the filthy conditions left behind by some protest groups, the violence and the incidents of intimidation against even children, as has been reported.

The father, Edward, told WND his alarm comes from his perspective as a conservative independent.

But he said he grew up in the old Soviet Union, and recalls when an official media there would print the "news," from only one perspective.

"When I see something like this it just boggles my mind," he said.

He recalled pictures of government officials posted all over and his grandfather's fear that someone would discover he was listening to Voice of America.

"I've seen it," Edward told WND. "I don't want to go that way again. I left the Soviet Union to come to the U.S. and then I'm seeing the Occupy Wall Street anti-Semitism. Where do I go from here?"

He said the least Scholastic should have done was to offer a fair explanation that included both sides of the arguments.

Edward's comment to Scholastic was: "I grew up in Soviet Union and seeing your propaganda about Occupy Wall Street brings back my memories. I'm neither Republican or Democrat but I would rather see my kids hear about both sides."

Jenifer, responding for the company, said, "I am happy to forward on your concern about providing both Democrat and Republican views."

WND reported several years ago when the Junior Scholastic "news magazine" promoted "madrassa" school life for American children who are Muslims, much to the outrage of some parents.

"Remember way back in grade school and getting Junior Scholastic magazine in school? Well here is an example of what JS has devolved into. Force-feeding the barbaric propaganda of Islamic madrassas down the throats of my 7th and 4th graders. Disgusting," a father wrote WND about the issue.

Scholastic said at that time that there are few topics the company will not cover if they are brought up in classrooms.

That particular story, "Inside a Madrasa, U.S. kids talk about their daily lives at an Islamic school in Pakistan," was written by Cassandra Nelson in view of "helping students learn about the world they live in. That world does include religion and a variety of cultures," a company official reported.

WND also has reported that Islamic factions now are taking part in the development and editing processes for textbooks in U.S. public schools, how some schools have required students to "become Muslim" and memorize the "Five Pillars of Islam" during their public school coursework, and how a man once arrested as a terror suspect for allegedly trying to transport $340,000 from a group tied to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi helped write the "Religious Expression in Public Schools" guidelines issued by President Clinton during his tenure in office.

Earlier, WND reported that The American Textbook Council found that textbooks for children in U.S. public schools these days reflect "the interplay of determined Islamic political activists, textbook editors, and multiculturally minded social studies curriculum planners."

It has gone so far that correcting the situation now becomes a problem, because "educational publishers and educational organizations have bought into claims propounded by Islamists – and have themselves become agents of misinformation."

That comes from Gilbert T. Sewall, who wrote the organization's report on Islam and textbooks. And Middle East Forum director Daniel Pipes even has repeatedly expressed concern about the "privileging of Islam in the United States" and warns the stakes go well beyond 7th grade texts. His opinion of Houghton Mifflin's "Across the Centuries"? Full of "apologetics."

Sewall said his study showed world history textbooks "hold Islam and other non-Western civilizations to different standards than those that apply to the West" even while "Islamic pressure groups and their allies seek to suppress the critical analysis of Islam inside and outside classrooms.

"Textbook editors seem not to recognize that a school-related Islamic agenda in the U.S. uses multiculturalism as a device to guarantee a purely favorable and uncritical view of all things Muslim. At extremes, the report suggested, multiculturalism contributes to a form of peaceable cultural jihad meant to discredit or 'problematize' European civilization in favor of non-Western cultures," he wrote.

Obama Approval Drops, As Economic Fears Rise

Half of American voters disapprove of president's job, as outlook on economy sours

Less than a year before the election, more American voters disapprove than approve of the job President Obama is doing as president -- and almost all view the economy negatively.

Forty-four percent of voters approve and 51 percent disapprove of President Obama’s job performance, according to a Fox News poll released Friday.

Last month, 42 percent approved and 48 percent disapproved. The increase in disapproval is due at least in part to Democrats. The 19 percent of Obama’s party who now disapprove of the job he’s doing matches the previous high (August 2010). The president’s average approval among Democrats for his term so far is 82 percent, and average disapproval is 11 percent.

An overwhelming majority of voters -- 94 percent -- say the economy is in bad shape. Twenty-eight percent rate conditions as “only fair” and 66 percent say “poor.” That is the highest “poor” rating ever measured by the Fox News poll.

In September 2008 -- in the middle of the Wall Street collapse -- 65 percent said the economy was in poor shape.

Less than 1 percent of voters says the economy is in “excellent” shape and 5 percent say it is in “good” condition.

Occupy's 'nerve center' staffed by Soros activists

Professional radicals caught red-handed running so-called 'leaderless' movement

The so-called leaderless Occupy movement has just been caught red-handed operating what appears to be a nerve center staffed by professional agitators deeply tied to groups funded by billionaire activist George Soros.

The groups, most prominent among them being the Tides Center, have been involved with Occupy since the anti-Wall Street movement's inception.

The radical connections have been largely missed by the general public. CNN, the only news media outlet to receive exclusive access to Occupy's alleged headquarters, did not fully identify the activists found running it.

The article and accompanying video purport to depict "a few dozen Occupy Wall Street organizers" who "show up to work every day at an office building in the heart of Manhattan's Financial District."

CNN surmised "the office space appears to be the movement's nerve center," a notion denied by Occupy leaders interviewed by the news network.

Continued the piece: "But the volunteers who plan future actions, network with other Occupy protests and deal with logistical issues insisted the location is not Occupy Wall Street's headquarters."

The news network maintained it visited Occupy's nerve center. CNN reported the Occupy office boasts a finance committee that manages expenses and donations; a communications group that disseminates information agreed upon by consensus and a housing group to make sleeping arrangements for protesters.

CNN quoted activist Han Shan, identifying him only as "a member of Occupy Wall Street's press relations and direct-action working groups."

"This is just an office space that a handful of people have tried to make a resource for the Occupy Wall Street movement," Shan stated.

"Everybody is looking around trying to figure out where the heck the headquarters is, and the truth of the matter is this movement is bigger than any piece of geography, than any piece of real estate, than any square block."

Shan's radical resume goes far beyond Occupy. He is the former program director for the Tides Center-funded Ruckus Society and an activist with the Tides-funded Adbusters.

Shan was listed as the contact person for protests outside the 2000 Democratic National Convention. Those protests were sponsored by both Adbusters and Ruckus.

Shan previously pulled off a stunt at the Mall of America in Minneapolis, where he reportedly climbed to the top of the building and unfurled a 600-square-foot cartoon that depicted the earth falling through a broken shopping bag. The action was aimed at getting mall visitors to ditch their purchases, go home and observe Thanksgiving Friday as "Buy Nothing Day."

Since 1992, "Buy Nothing Day" has been sponsored annually by the Vancouver-based Media Foundation, which publishes Adbusters.

Adbusters magazine is reported to have come up with the Occupy Wall Street idea after Arab Spring protests toppled governments in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia. The Adbusters website serves as a central hub for Occupy's planning.

Working with the Ruckus Society, Shan was a leader of the 1999 World Trade Organization protests in Seattle that turned violent. Ruckus helped to spark those riots.

Ruckus is directly tied to Occupy. WND previously reported how official direct-action training resources for recent Occupy events include several manuals from the Ruckus Society, which trains radical activists in "direct action" techniques.

Ruckus was also listed as a "friend and partner" of the Occupy Days of Action held last month.

Ruckus is funded by the Tides Center, which has been involved in Occupy since the movement's onset.

Another grantee of Tides is the Adbusters magazine. MoveOn.org, which has joined Occupy, is funded by Tides.

Tides functions as a money tunnel where major leftist donors provide large sums that are channeled to hundreds of radical groups. One prominent Tides donor is Soros.

As for those "tasteful" photos Lindsay's mom Dina promised, well, so far the one we've seen has the "Mean Girls" actress straddling a bunny chair with its ears covering her breasts. Not quite the definition of tasteful.

Though many may see the publicity stunt as pathetic, the starlet is actually in good company, following in the naked footsteps of successful actresses Drew Barrymore, Joan Collins, Charlize Theron, Sharon Stone, and Lohan's idol Marilyn Monroe (never mind the part where the icon died of an overdose at age 36).

Will the photo spread rejuvenate Lohan's career? Hard to say. If not, there's always Penthouse ...

Obama offers plan for U.S. to be global LGBT sex cop

The Obama administration has announced it intends to make the United States the global sex cop, with plans to try to intervene in the workings of other nations where homosexuality is not promoted as well as plans to create special provisions for homosexuals and those with other lifestyle choices to gain special admittance to the U.S.

Among the provisions is a specific call for the U.S. government to "enhance" its work to provide services to "LGBT refugees and asylum seekers."

"Who knew when Reagan was talking about being a shining city on the hill the city would turn out to be Sodom," said Peter LaBarbera, chief of Americans for Truth, an Illinois organization active in revealing the truth of homosexuality.

The White House statement is called the Presidential Memorandum – International Initiatives to Advance the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Persons.

In the introduction to the multi-section document, Obama explains that he's already instructed that agencies "engaged abroad" to already have started "taking action to promote the fundamental human rights of LGBT persons everywhere."

Specifically, his plan is to try to intervene in other nation's internal operations where the homosexual lifestyle choice is at risk. That would happen through U.S. government's agencies that would "strengthen existing efforts to effectively combat the criminalization by foreign governments of LGBT status or conduct and to expand efforts to combat discrimination, homophobia, and intolerance on the basis of LGBT status or conduct."

Further, special access to the United States needs to be provided to any "LGBT" person, Obama explains.

"In order to improve protection for LGBT refugees and asylum seekers at all stages of displacement, the Departments of State and Homeland Security shall enhance their ongoing efforts to ensure that LGBT refugees and asylum seekers have equal access to protection and assistance…," Obama wrote.

He explained that federal workers must be trained to help LGBT class members in their desires.

The enhancements the U.S. offers for those who support the alternative sexual lifestyle choices also means that those agencies helping with foreign aid should step up their involvement with LGBT interests and a special "standing group" should be organized to make sure the U.S. is responding as he wants, Obama said.

Also, the State Department and other agencies "should strengthen the work they have begun and initiate additional efforts in these multilateral fora and organizations to … counter discrimination on the basis of LGBT status; broaden the number of countries willing to support and defend LGBT issues… " and other outreaches.

The statement from Obama came just a day after his press secretary refused to answer a question about the appropriateness of a Senate vote to remove the ban on bestiality from the law that governs the nation's military.

Those who have been involved in the confrontations over the demands for "rights" from homosexual and other groups in America said the move is extraordinarily inappropriate.

"America is not being a post-Christian nation … We're anti-Christian. We're directly at war with Judeo-Christian ethics," LaBarbera told WND. "Also [at war with] Muslims and the ethics in other countries. We're turning human history on its head."

He said Obama, and his secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, literally are "redefining sin."

"In all of the colonies, through our whole history, homosexuality has been forbidden," he said. "Now all of a sudden we're going to be lecturing other countries, forcing other nations to follow the new-fangled version of human rights."

He said regarding Obama press secretary Jay Carney's handling of the question about military bestiality, the very things that have been said about homosexuality and rights could apply to bestiality and rights, or pedophilia and rights, or other alternative lifestyle choices and rights.

"On what basis," he asked, "can we say that's [pedophilia or bestiality] beyond the pale? NAMBLA [the North American Man-Boy Love Association for pedophiles] used to walk in gay pride parades."

"Human rights are rooted in biblical, Judeo-Christianity's idea of rights. This is unbelievable. They are twisting what human rights are. If there's a right to homosexual behavior, why isn't there a right to polygamy, adultery, incest?"

Randy Thomasson, of of SaveCalifornia.com, has been involved in that state's fights over the indoctrination of sexual alternatives in public schools as well as the fight over the voter-approved constitutional amendment that defines marriage as being only between one man and one woman.

He said the promotion by Obama and Hillary Clinton of homosexuality simply isn't rooted in the facts.

"Homosexuality has never shown evidence that it is inherited, or has a genetic or biological origin. The 'gay gene' doesn't exist. Race and ethnicity are inherited, but homosexuality is not inherited," he said.

"Obama and Hillary Clinton need to take a science course on human sexuality and genetics and learn what they think is right is scientifically wrong," he said.

He said the classification of homosexuality as a "right" is a "fatal error" that threatens children, accurate science, good health, real marriage, religious freedom, free speech as well as property rights.

That explains homosexuality is not, in fact, genetic, nor is it healthy. It also includes offers of assistance for those struggling to leave homosexuality.

Matt Barber, an official with Liberty Counsel, also told WND, "How dare we, the U.S., export our decline in morality to other nations? This president has brought shame upon our nation by using extortion. I use a strong word there, extortion, in an attempt to compel other nations to adopt every demand of the radical homosexual lobby."

He noted the urgency of Obama's concern about homosexuals under fire around the world, yet notes that it is Christian men, women and children, who are "slaughtered" daily under anti-Christian regimes.

It was GOP presidential hopeful and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., who said the vote in the Senate to repeal the military's ban on sodomy and bestiality was "absolutely abhorrent."

She made the comments last night on Glenn Beck's web television program.

Les Kinsolving, WND's correspondent at the White House, had asked press secretary Jay Carney, "The Family Research Council and CNS News both reported a 93-to-7 U.S. Senate vote to approve a defense authorization bill that, quote, 'includes a provision which not only repeals the military law on sodomy, but also repeals the military ban on sex with animals, or bestiality.' Does the commander in chief approve or disapprove of bestiality in our armed forces?"

Carney said, "I don't have any comment on – I don't have any comment on that. Let me go to another question."

Arpaio gets death threats over Obama investigation

Warned he 'will be filled with thousand bullet holes'

Maverick Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio says his "Cold Case Posse" investigating Barack Obama's presidential eligibility will release a preliminary report in February of its findings, which he expects to be "controversial."

"This is a serious law enforcement investigation, and our findings are going to be controversial but based in facts," the Maricopa County sheriff told WND. Arpaio said a comprehensive report will be issued shortly after the February preliminary report.

"The investigators on the Cold Case Posse are doing a great job," Arpaio told WND. "They are all law enforcement professionals, and they are all volunteers putting in a lot of hours at no taxpayer expense."

Arpaio confirmed that the Obama investigation has broadened beyond an examination of whether or not the birth certificate made public by the White House on April 27 is an authentic document. The probe, he said, is examining Obama's history in regard to his eligibility to be president under Article 2, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution.

"We are not taking the Obama investigation lightly," Arpaio said. "The Cold Case Posse is actively tracking down all leads received, because the people deserve to know the truth."

Arpaio's investigative team has amassed hundreds of pages of documentation and taken testimony from dozens of experts in preparation for a final phase of field investigation.

On Tuesday, Arpaio posted on his Facebook page a reference to a Globe Magazine report citing inside sources in the White House who say President Obama and the First Lady are in "a panic" over the Maricopa County investigation.

The reaction to Arpaio's posting indicates public interest in the probe is high, despite relatively little coverage by establishment media.

Since Tuesday, Arpaio's Facebook posting has received more than 7,900 "like this" clicks from readers, 780 shares and over 1,700 comments.

Arpaio also continues to receive messages of a different sort, with numerous death threats arriving at his office for his decision to investigate Obama's eligibility.

"I plan to kill Joe Arpaio first," read one particularly ominous death threat. "He will be filled with a thousand bullet holes before the year is out. I promise you this – Arpaio won't **** with Obama."

Maricopa County Deputy Chief David Trombi told WND that all death threats are being thoroughly investigated, with the intent to hold the culprits legally responsible for their actions.

"We can't take the risk of ignoring a threat, regardless how wild or crazy the threat may appear," Trombi said.

Arpaio, who has built a national reputation as a tough enforcer of Arizona's immigration laws, is no stranger to death threats.

"The threats regarding the Obama investigation may set a new standard for partisanship, but they are nothing new," Trombi said. "Four separate Mexican drug cartels have placed bounties totaling $4 million on his head. That's about as serious as you can get, and the sheriff has had to live with this for years."

Arpaio, nevertheless, is determined to bring the Obama investigation to a successful conclusion.

"The American people deserve to know the truth about Obama," Arpaio said. "We are a major law enforcement agency – one of the largest in the nation – and we have at our disposal investigative tools not generally available, even to the top private investigator in the country. We don't plan to stop until we discover the truth."

Macy's Fires Employee for Protecting Women's Dressing Rooms from Cross-dresser

A young woman was fired from a Macy's department store for refusing to violate her religious beliefs by permitting a young man dressed as a woman from entering the women's dressing room. Natalie Johnson claims she saw the young man walk out of the women's fitting room and politely told him that he could not go back in because it was for women only. The cross-dressing young man claimed that he is a "female." Johnson said that he was wearing make-up and girl's clothing, but clearly he was a male. The cross-dresser was accompanied by five other individuals. The group argued with expletives that Macy's is LGBT-friendly, to which Johnson replied that Macy's is also non-discriminatory toward religion, and that it would go against her religious beliefs to lie that he was a woman or compromise with homosexuality. The group then demanded to speak with a manager.

When Johnson was confronted by her employer, she explained that she could not allow a male to change in a female's fitting room. Johnson's boss referred her to Macy's LGBT policy which allows "transgender" people to change in any dressing room they want. However, Johnson pointed out that the same policy also protects against religious discrimination and, in this case, it protects her right to her beliefs that were being violated. The manager demanded that she comply with the LGBT policies or lose her job. Johnson refused to go against her sincerely held religious beliefs and was terminated from her job.

Macy's policy which allows men to use the women's dressing room is fraught with problems. This policy will cause significant problems and will alienate the majority of Macy's customers. Macy's has essentially opened women's dressing rooms to every man. The LGBT agenda has become the theater of the absurd.

NASA Telescope Confirms Alien Planet in Habitable Zone

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — NASA's planet-hunting Kepler spacecraft has confirmed the discovery of its first alien world in its host star's habitable zone — that just-right range of distances that could allow liquid water to exist — and found more than 1,000 new explanet candidates, researchers announced today (Dec. 5).

The new finds bring the Kepler space telescope's total haul to 2,326 potential planets in its first 16 months of operation.These discoveries, if confirmed, would quadruple the current tally of worlds known to exist beyond our solar system, which recently topped 700.

The potentially habitable alien world, a first for Kepler, orbits a star very much like our own sun. The discovery brings scientists one step closer to finding a planet like our own — one which could conceivably harbor life, scientists said.

"We're getting closer and closer to discovering the so-called 'Goldilocks planet,'" Pete Worden, director of NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif., said during a press conference today. [Gallery: The Strangest Alien Planets]

The newfound planet in the habitable zone is called Kepler-22b. It is located about 600 light-years away, orbiting a sun-like star.

Kepler-22b's radius is 2.4 times that of Earth, and the two planets have roughly similar temperatures. If the greenhouse effect operates there similarly to how it does on Earth, the average surface temperature on Kepler-22b would be 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22 degrees Celsius).

Feds allow arsenic in apple juice?

This past year, I started writing a health and fitness column through Creators Syndicate titled "C-Force." It is no surprise that in researching for that column I've discovered repeat offenses of food and beverage tampering by the federal government. But arsenic in apple juice?

Dr. Oz received significant flak when he reported in September that "some of the best-known brands of apple juice contain arsenic." Since then, however, Oz has been redeemed and his claims substantiated!

After Oz's initial comments, Dr. Richard Besser, a 13-year veteran of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and ABC News chief health and medical editor, publicly lambasted Oz and his apple-arsenic warnings as "extremely irresponsible," "fear mongering" and equated them to yelling "'Fire!' in a movie theater." Amid the public debate, the FDA tried to steady the apple cart by saying that consumption of apple juice "poses little or no risk."

But just a few days ago, I watched a humbled Dr. Besser on "Good Morning, America" recant his fury against Oz's conclusions, saying instead that new studies have just confirmed arsenic is indeed in many popular apple juices.

ABC News reported that Consumer Reports tested 88 samples of popular brands of grape and apple juice sold in the U.S., including Welch's, Minute Maid and Mott's. The results revealed that 10 percent of the juices "had total arsenic levels greater than the FDA's standard for drinking water of 10 parts per billion (ppb), while 25 percent of juices also had lead levels higher than the FDA's bottled water limit of 5 ppb."

Furthermore, data on arsenic in adult urine from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention demonstrated that men and women who drank apple or grape juice in a 24-hour period had, "on average, about 20 percent higher levels of total urinary arsenic than those subjects who did not."

Consumer Reports went on to report that the arsenic tested and detected is inorganic and a human carcinogen. It further explained the dangers of arsenic that there is "mounting scientific evidence suggesting that chronic exposure to arsenic and lead even at levels below federal standards for water can result in serious health problems, especially for those who are exposed in the womb or during early childhood. FDA data and other research reveal that arsenic has been detected at disturbing levels in other foods as well." But who wants or needs inorganic or organic arsenic in their water, juices or foods? (Oz further notes that, though many say that organic arsenic is safe, there is clear evidence that both forms are ultimately hazardous to our health.)

Tragically teetering on a huge U.S. health cover up, just a few weeks ago, the FDA posted eight "previously undisclosed test results" for apple juice samples from around the country that had arsenic levels that superseded even their own "level of concern" for inorganic arsenic. Two of those eight samples had arsenic levels of 27 ppb, one with 42 ppb, and two others with 45 ppb!

What's even worse is that these five samples were discovered in 2008! And we're just finding out about them now? Such undisclosed elevated levels of arsenic give a whole new meaning to the saying, "Quit drinking the Feds' Kool-Aid!"

To our detriment, the FDA has limits for arsenic in water (including bottled), but no such regulations on fruit juices. At very least, the FDA should not allow more arsenic in apple juice than it allows in Americans' drinking water! Until then, tides of arsenic will continue to flow from foreign produce fields into American bloodstreams. (If you want to weigh in on this issue, contact the FDA at FDA.gov or call 1-888-463-6332.)

Dr. Urvashi Rangan, director of safety and sustainability at Consumer Reports, rightly delivered this staunch warning: "We're concerned about the potential risks of exposure to these toxins, especially for children who are particularly vulnerable because of their small body size and the amount of juice they regularly consume."

With apple juice lacing everything from children's diets, cereals, snack bars and holiday party tables, we need to heed this countrywide health warning and blow the trumpet to our neighbors. The fact is that the U.S is getting more and more of its fruits and vegetables from other countries, and many of them do not preclude or limit arsenic in their pesticides or even their water supply, as the U.S. does. Oz reported that apple concentrate comes from up to seven countries – 60 percent of it imported from China alone.

I agree with Oz, Rangan and Consumer Reports: "[I]t's best for consumers to reduce their exposure" to these juices. Consumer Reports is now recommending, until this juice fiasco is remedied, not giving any type of juice to infants under six months of age, no more than four to six ounces daily to children ages up to six, and older children no more than eight to 12 ounces daily.

This is another perfect example why health and fitness enthusiasts like my wife, Gena, and I encourage everyone to buy local and organic, always, and, where you can, grow your own produce, and juice it yourself.

So let buyers beware! Poisonous apples are definitely not just being offered in fictional Snow White adventures.

Death at Texas 'Occupy' Camp Suspected to be Drug-Related

DENTON, Texas – Police on Sunday identified a man found dead in a tent at the "Occupy Denton" protest campsite on the grounds of the University of North Texas (UNT).

Darwin Cox, 23, died at around 4:30 p.m. local time Saturday, according to a police press release.

University and city police found his body at the eight-tent encampment after someone contacted authorities between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturday, UNT spokesman Buddy Price told KNTU Radio.

His cause of death has not yet been determined, pending toxicology results.

An "Occupy Denton" press release described him as "a fellow occupier, a kind and idealistic young man and a friend" whose "lifelong struggle with drug addiction" was suspected to be a factor in his death

Protest organizers said he was homeless when he joined the "Occupy" movement last month.

Principal says 9-year-old's comment was a form of 'sexual harassment,' suspends student for two days

A 9-year-old boy North Carolina boy was suspended for calling a teacher “cute,” WSOCTV.com reports.

The boy’s mother, Chiquita Lockett, said the principal of Brookside Elementary in Gastonia called her after the incident to say the comment was a form of “sexual harassment.”

"It's not like he went up to the woman and tried to grab her or touch her in a sexual way," Lockett said. "So why would he be suspended for two days?”

3rd state facing challenge over Obama eligibility

A formal challenge to Barack Obama's candidacy in the 2012 presidential election has been filed now in a third state, where a submission by a citizen, Albert Hendershot, alleges that the Democratic Party "intends to act negligently or fraudulently in a manner that will cause irreparable harm to the citizens of Alabama."

Earlier challenges to Obama's candidacy were filed in New Hampshire and Georgia. State officials in New Hampshire, noting that the application had been filled out and the $1,000 fee had been paid, rejected the complaint, which now is being appealed.

The complaints note that state officials are constitutionally obligated to prevent fraudulent ballots in their jurisdictions, along with concerns that the Democrats, as in 2008, are proposing a candidate that is linked to fraud through his presentation of a contested birth certificate as well as his use of a suspect Social Security number.

"This complaint does not request or require [officials] find that President Obama is not qualified to hold the office of president of the United States. Instead, this complaint simply asserts that sufficient evidence exists to make any reasonable person doubt, in light of the evidence, that Barack Obama is a 'natural-born citizen,'" said the document, which was posted online by the BirtherReport.com.

The website, which pursues information about Obama's background, reports that among the various documents for Obama that remain concealed are his passport records, kindergarten records, Punahou School records, Occidental College records, Columbia University records, Columbia thesis, Harvard Law School records, Harvard Law Review articles, University of Chicago scholarly articles, Illinois State Bar Association records, Illinois State Senate records/schedules, medical records, Obama/Dunham marriage license, Obama/Dunham divorce documents, Soetoro/Dunham marriage license and adoption records.

But this year, Chafee says it cannot be called a "Christmas tree," claiming this counters Rhode Island's founding as a haven for religious tolerance, where government and religion were kept separate.

Now facing bench trial in court run by lesbian

Two veteran street preachers in Houston are facing a bench trial for spreading the biblical message about homosexuality – and other sins – on one of their favorite corners for preaching in Houston.

That the message was direct is obvious, from a photo of the situation that developed for David Stokes of BulldogMinistries.com and Dave Allen of HornofSamuelBook.com

Their sign warns those who are "Drunks, homosexuals, abortionist, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists, witches, idolators" that "Hell awaits you."

Their hearing will be in Houston Municipal Court, which is run by Barbara E. Hartle, who, according to the Dallas Voice, is listed by the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund as "one of only a few out members of the Texas judiciary."

She was appointed to the position by Houston Mayor Annise Parker, identified by the Los Angeles Times as "the first lesbian to head a major American city."

Allen told WND that no matter what happens, the fact that the ministers were handcuffed and ticketed, with their signs and shofar confiscated for a time, sent a chilling message about free speech regarding religion and homosexuality.

Technically, they were ticketed for having signs thicker than one-quarter inch (they say they were 3/16ths and that they'd been approved beforehand), and for having a sign not made out of wood (their shofar is a ram's horn style).

Officers responded after someone apparently complained about the messengers and their message, but a video reveals that the first officer on the scene told them they weren't doing anything wrong.

It was a few minutes later, however, when officers approached the preachers, apparently grabbed a video camera, wrestled them to the ground and put them in handcuffs.

That's even though Stokes and Allan have been preaching at that location for several years.

The video recording shows that the officers discussed the situation with each other, saying, "They can be out there all they want," and "There was no problem, but we have to do a report on this guy."

There's also a reference to "one way to get rid of them," coupled with a muffled statement that appears to say, "Seize the signs."

The ministers reported on a YouTube video description that that "police officer admits to trying to take the signs away in order to get us to leave the corner."

To Allen, that sounds like a First Amendment speech infringement.

"We have been preaching on this corner with these same signs for two years," he says in the YouTube introduction.

A local television station also reported on the developing controversy:

Allen told WND he blows the shofar and others preach to passersby because of the Old Testament warning that those who know the truth of God's will and don't deliver it to others will bear the responsibility of that failure.

Allen told WND the ministries largely have had a reasonable relationship with the Houston Police Department, but this incident seemed to be reaching for the men in blue.

He said he couldn't speculate on what impact the ministries' message of biblical condemnation for homosexuality may have on the outcome of their case.

"Preaching is all we were doing," he said. "Against all sins."

Obama: 'Massive blow' if GOP blocks payroll tax

NEW YORK (AP) -- Blending governing with re-election politics, President Barack Obama roused a cheering northeast Pennsylvania crowd Wednesday as he warned of a "massive blow to the economy" if Republicans block a payroll tax extension.

But hours later, addressing donors in New York, he toned his rhetoric down and declared progress was possible.

Obama took to the road with a dual pitch for money, campaigning for more cash in the pockets of U.S. workers - and for his campaign treasury as well.

He pressed his case at a campaign-style rally in working-class Scranton, Pa., where he said Republicans had to choose between lower taxes for the wealthy, or a payroll tax cut that would help working Americans. Republicans say they would support extending the payroll tax cut, but reject new taxes to offset the costs.

"Are you going to cut taxes for the middle class and those who are trying to get into the middle class, or are you going to protect massive tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires?" he said. "Are you going to ask a few hundred thousand people who have done very, very well to do their fair share or are you going to raise taxes for hundreds of millions of people across the country?"

Later, in donor-rich New York City where he was raising money for his already flush re-election bid, he took a more conciliatory tone, acknowledging that Republicans such as House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky were also willing to extend the payroll tax, though not with a tax increase on millionaires.

Judge Robert Wiggins dealt a major setback to New York Governor Cuomo and Mayor Bloomberg in the lawsuit brought by Liberty Counsel against the same-sex marriage law in New York, because of the flagrant violations of the New York state constitutional and legal procedures. The state asked the court to dismiss the case, but yesterday afternoon, Judge Wiggins sided with Liberty Counsel, ruling that the case may proceed to trial.

New York law requires that a bill be printed and in its final form on the desks of the legislators three days prior to a vote, unless an emergency exists. Gov. Cuomo ignored the provision and declared an emergency, stating that waiting three days would deprive same-sex couples of marriage.

Judge Wiggins wrote: "Logically and clearly this cite by the Governor is disingenuous. The review of such concept altering legislation for three days after generations of existing definitions would not so damage same-sex couples as to necessitate an avoidance of rules meant to ensure full review and discussion prior to any vote." The judge then wrote that "although the disregard for the statute seems evident, the Court feels constrained to not rule on the Governor's certification of necessity."

Judge Wiggins wrote that "clear arm-twisting by the Executive on the Legislative permeates this entire process." The Court noted that New York law requires every meeting of a public body to "be open to the general public," with few exceptions, none of which apply here. Liberty Counsel will now pursue discovery on the Open Meetings violations, including the depositions of Cuomo, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and the President of the Senate;

This is a victory for the people of New York and a setback to the political arm-twisters who tried to thwart the open meetings process. When government operates in secret and freezes out the very people it is supposed to represent, the entire system fails. The law should be set aside, and the process should begin again to allow the people a voice in the process.

IN OTHER NEWS: Herman Cain considers dropping his presidential bid

Herman Cain is reportedly considering ending his presidential bid after fielding another charge of sexual impropriety Monday. As has been the case with the past spate of sexual-harassment charges against the former Godfather's Pizza CEO, Cain has flatly denied the latest charge from Georgia businesswoman Ginger White that the two had carried on a 13-year extramarital affair.

Multiple news outlets report that Cain announced to staff during a conference call Tuesday morning that he is reassessing his presidential campaign, though he noted this is not the first time he has reassessed his 2012 plans.

"Now with this latest one we have to do an assessment as to whether or not this is going to create too much of a cloud in some peoples' minds as to whether or not they should support us going forward," Cain said, according to the Des Moines Register, in reference to White's claim.

Cain reconfirmed that he regarded White as a friend and did assist her financially, but denied her claims of an affair.

"If a decision is made, different than we should plow ahead, you all will be the first to know," Cain said.

He reportedly added that his campaign will arrive at a decision in the coming days.

We really feel sorry for Herman Cain. Obviously these women have been paid by liberals to tell these lies. Because the liberal democrats fear Herman Cain! They fear another black man going against Obama.

Shoppers Pack Monroeville Mall On Black Friday, Victoria’s Secret Deal Leads To Hot Tempers

MONROEVILLE (KDKA) — People camped out, lined up and pushed through the doors when stores opened as early as midnight for early bird specials this Black Friday.

Everyone was looking for a good deal on that holiday gift, but not everyone was in a giving mood. A small scuffle reportedly broke out at one sale in the Monroeville Mall.

Some consider Thanksgiving to be the start of the holiday season, but dedicated shoppers say it’s today, and they were out in full force.

The gift of sales – a joyous day that comes but once a year. It had shoppers up in the middle of the night, all for a discount.

“I left the house about 10:30,” said one shopper.

Not 10 a.m., no, that’s 10:30 at night.

With many businesses opening much earlier this year, stores had waves of customers at places like Monroeville Mall, where many stores opened at midnight unlike the normal doorbuster rush of Black Fridays past.

One of the most climactic parts of the day was at Victoria’s Secret, where a hot deal on yoga pants had some women fuming.

“Literally, girls were punching each other,” said shopper Liz Wentling. “They threw little bags in baskets and they were just like, ‘Here.’ Girls were literally shoving each other, moms were getting into it.”

The morning shoppers finally settled down, but getting up in the middle of the night meant that some literally shopped till they dropped. Some took advantage of the massage chairs conveniently set up in the mall as they checked their shopping lists.

“Just myself,” said shopper Shannon Smith. “I’m still shopping for myself.”

Of course, Santa Claus is at the mall too. He’ll be there every day from now until Christmas Eve.

'Occupy'-Inspired Campaign Urges Boycott of Black Friday

Occupy Wall Street-inspired protesters are eyeing a new target -- Target. And dozens of other companies.

A campaign under the name "Occupy Black Friday" is trying to enlist supporters to boycott just about every major retailer, and quite a few mid-sized ones, the day after Thanksgiving. The protesters are casting a wide net, urging people to demonstrate against the top retail stores -- a list that includes everything from Wal-Mart to Target to Dick's Sporting Goods to Dollar Tree.

"The idea is simple, hit the corporations that corrupt and control American politics where it hurts, their profits," the group's Facebook page reads, describing Black Friday as the "one day where the mega-corporations blatantly dictate our actions."

But retailers, who are monitoring the mini-movement, warn that a blanket boycott could end up hurting local communities.

Divorce settlement hit Hulk Hogan hard

Details surrounding the divorce settlement between Terry Bollea, better known as Hulk Hogan, and ex-wife Linda Bollea have surfaced in an article in the St. Petersburg Times. The two were divorced in 2009, but specifics of their financial settlement were unknown until now.

So much for 50/50. Linda Bollea received more than 70% of the couple's liquid assets. But the pain doesn't stop there for the Hulkster. His ex also received a 40% ownership stake in Hulk's companies. Plus, she received a $3 million property settlement (more on that below).

The St. Petersberg Times writes that "the confidential financial settlement came to light this week after it was attached to a new motion filed by Terry Bollea's attorneys."

So, what are the gritty details? According to the documents, Linda Bollea got a lump sum of $7.44 million from the couple's investment accounts. The remaining $2.97 million went to the Hulk.

The properties were either sold or are still on the market. The couple's home used in "Hogan Knows Best" was originally listed for nearly $14 million. It is now available for around $8.87 million. Once that sells, Hogan will owe his ex-wife $1.45 million. The two will split the remaining proceeds.

Additionally, Linda Bollea received several cars in the split, including a Mercedes-Benz, a Corvette, a Cadillac Escalade, and a Rolls-Royce. Hulk received many of the remaining automobiles.

It may sound like Hulk got body slammed, but it's not all bad news for the iconic wrestler. Deadspin explains that the Hulkster will get to keep any money he earns from personal appearances and will not have to pay alimony.

By celebrity standards, Hulk and Linda had what could be considered a pretty successful marriage. They were together for roughly 26 years and had two children, Nick and Brooke. Their reality program, "Hogan Knows Best," ran for four seasons.

Tiffany Washington, a spokesperson for Walgreens stated, "During the month of December, there will be greater use of 'Christmas' in our store and online. We completely agree that while others celebrate different holidays, we should use the word 'Christmas' to describe items we are selling for Christmas decorations and gifts. As Christmas draws closer, there will be plenty of messages in our store and online that say 'Merry Christmas.'" In addition, Liberty Counsel has received a report of Christmas music being played in Indiana Walgreens stores in response to a directive from its headquarters.

Occupy protests cost nation's cities at least $13M

NEW YORK (AP) — During the first two months of the nationwide Occupy protests, the movement that is demanding more out of the wealthiest Americans cost local taxpayers at least $13 million in police overtime and other municipal services, according to a survey by The Associated Press.

The heaviest financial burden has fallen upon law enforcement agencies tasked with monitoring marches and evicting protesters from outdoor camps. And the steepest costs by far piled up in New York City and Oakland, Calif., where police clashed with protesters on several occasions.

The AP gathered figures from government agencies in 18 cities with active protests and focused on costs through Nov. 15, the day protesters were evicted from New York City's Zuccotti Park, where the protests began Sept. 17 before spreading nationwide. The survey did not attempt to tally the price of all protests but provides a glimpse into costs to cities large and small.

Broken down city by city, the numbers are more or less in line with the cost of policing major public events and emergencies. In Los Angeles, for example, the Michael Jackson memorial concert cost the city $1.4 million. And Atlanta spent several million dollars after a major snow and ice storm this year.

But the price of the protests is rising by the day — along with taxpayer ire in most places.

"What is their real agenda?" asked Rodger Mawhinney as he watched police remove an encampment outside his apartment complex in downtown Oakland. "I've gone up and asked them, 'What are you truly trying to accomplish?' I'm still waiting for an answer."

The Occupy movement has intentionally never clarified its policy objectives, relying instead on a broad message opposing corporate excess and income inequality. Aside from policing, cleaning and repairing property at dozens of 24-hour encampments, cities have had to monitor frequent rallies and protests.

The spending comes as cash-strapped police departments have cut overtime budgets, travel and training to respond to the recession. Nonetheless, city officials say they have no choice but to bring in extra officers or hold officers past their shifts to handle gatherings and marches in a way that protects free speech rights and public safety. In some cities, officials say the spending is eating into their overtime budgets and leaving less money for other public services.

Protesters blame excessive police presence for the high costs in some places. And they note the cost has been minimal in other cities, and worth the spending because they have raised awareness about what they say is corporate greed and the growing inequality between rich and poor.

CVS and Walgreens Switch Sides on "Naughty & Nice"

Two competing drug store chains have switched sides on Liberty Counsel's "Naughty and Nice List." For the first time since 2007 CVS Pharmacy has embraced Christmas with a "Christmas Central" portion of its website that is dedicated to Christmas gifts, shipping and savings. On the other hand, Walgreens has moved from the "Nice" side to the "Naughty" side because it refuses to recognize Christmas. Walgreens names other traditional days such as Thanksgiving and Black Friday, but then suddenly uses only "Holiday" to describe the biggest reason for shopping all year.

As part of the annual "Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign," Liberty Counsel publishes a "Naughty and Nice" list, which catalogs more than 50 national retailers which either censor ("naughty") or recognize ("nice") Christmas. Consumers use the list as a shopping guide for where they want to invest their hard-earned money.

Liberty Counsel wants to give the gift of Christmas back to those retailers who support it. Christmas isn't a dirty word. No other federal holiday is blacklisted to the extent that Christmas is by some retailers. The 'Naughty & Nice' List allows you to patronize retailers that acknowledge Christmas.

Justice Department Challenges Utah’s Immigration Law

The Department of Justice and other agencies filed a complaint Tuesday in Salt Lake City that challenges Utah's immigration law, saying the state violates the U.S. Constitution due to its attempt to establish a state-specific immigration policy.

The department said the law mandates enforcement measures that can disrupt immigration practices by the federal government in the area. The Justice Department also expressed concern that, under the law, individuals could potentially be harassed and wrongfully detained, according to a statement.

This is the second lawsuit filed against the law. Civil rights groups filed a lawsuit earlier this year, and a federal judge granted a temporary restraining order in May against House Bill 497. That bill requires people arrested for serious crimes to prove their citizenship but gives police discretion to check citizenship for lesser crimes.

Similar lawsuits have taken aim at immigration enforcement in states like Arizona, Alabama and South Carolina.

Video surfaced online Saturday showing an officer at a California university calmly pepper-spraying a line of several sitting protesters, who flinch and cover their faces but remain passive with their arms interlocked as onlookers shriek and scream out for the officer to stop.

The chancellor of the University of California, Davis described the video images as "chilling" and said she was forming a task force to investigate even as a faculty group called for her resignation because of the incident Friday.

"The use of the pepper spray as shown on the video is chilling to us all and raises many questions about how best to handle situations like this," Chancellor Linda Katehi said in a message posted on the school's web site on Saturday.

I'm pretty sure these idiotic protesters were not obeying lawful orders to move from a certain area. The officer was simply doing his job. A Fox News poll released Wednesday shows Gingrich’s support doubling in the last three weeks. He stood at 12 percent in late October -- before the Cain harassment allegations and Rick Perry’s “oops” debate. Now the former House speaker is at 23 percent, essentially tied for the lead with Romney, with 22 percent.

On Monday, the controversial organization issued a press release attacking iconic Nintendo mascot Mario for wearing a 'Tanooki' suit in his latest adventure, the Nintendo 3DS game Super Mario 3D Land, which hit shelves on Sunday.

"Tanooki may be just a "suit" in Mario games, but by wearing the skin of an animal, Mario is sending the message that it's OK to wear fur," PETA says.

The raccoon-like suit, which grants Mario the ability to glide across the screen, has been a part of the franchise since first appearing as a power-up in 1988's Super Mario Bros. 3. In the new game, Mario acquires the suit not by doing something lousy to a Tanooki, but by snagging a Super Leaf.

Still, PETA insists this encourages animal abuse.

Supreme Court Will Hear the "ObamaCare" Lawsuit

Today the U. S. Supreme Court announced it will hear all arguments involving the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (commonly known as "ObamaCare"). Liberty Counsel represents Liberty University and two private individuals who object to government-mandated health insurance.

This Court will hear a consolidated argument related to the cases from Florida, involving 26 states (Florida v. United States Department of Health and Human Services) and the National Federation of Independent Businesses, which was also part of the case. The Court will hear argument for 90 minutes on the severability question. The Court will also hear the Florida case's challenge to the individual mandate, Medicaid, and the federal Anti-Injunction Act, allotting two hours to oral argument. The government will also be granted 2 hours for oral argument.

The Court apparently is holding the case of Liberty University v. Geithner, in which Liberty Counsel represents Liberty University and two private individuals. Oral argument will be set in the spring of 2012. The Court has granted an unprecedented 5½ hours for oral argument, with a decision expected no later than the end of the Court's term in June 2012.

The constitutional issues presented in the ObamaCare lawsuit are of exceptional importance to every American. If ObamaCare is upheld, then Congress will be able to force every American to purchase products or services determined by bureaucrats. We are pleased that the Supreme Court will hear this case. From the beginning, we knew this case was destined to be decided by the High Court;

A federal court has ruled that a California public school had the authority to prevent students from wearing clothing emblazoned with pro-American messages on the Mexican holiday Cinco de Mayo.

U. S. District Court Judge James Ware was ruling in a case involving students at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, CA, who were banned from wearing American flag t-shirts on the Mexican holiday in 2010.

The judge determined that the Morgan Hill Unified School District did not violate the First Amendment and said that concerns by school officials over possible violence justified censoring the pro-American message.

“The school officials reasonable forecast that Plaintiff’s clothing could cause a substantial disruption with school activities, and therefore did not violate the standard set forth – by requiring that Plaintiff’s change,” the judge wrote.

“This is nothing more than political correctness,” said John Whitehead, president of the Rutherford Institute. His organization, along with Thomas More Law Center, represented the students and their families in the lawsuit.

“If these kinds of decisions are upheld, they will destroy our First Amendment rights,” Whitehead told Fox News.

As Illinois Senator, Barack Obama supported partial-birth abortion, and voted for the expansion of embryonic stem cell research. Hillary Clinton, former Democratic senator for New York, favors abortion, embryonic stem cell research and opposed criminalizing harm to an unborn child that occurs during an attack on the mother. The radical pro-abortion group NARAL concluded that her policies were 100% pro-abortion. She approves of hate crimes legislation and laws that give same-sex civil unions equal benefits, rights, and privileges to marriage. She advocated that homosexuals should be able to serve in the military without concealing their unnatural sexual preferences and she co-sponsored a bill that was intended to provide benefits to domestic partners of Federal employees. Since becoming Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton has testified that the new policy of the United States is to repeal abortion restrictions around the world.

President Obama's "Science Czar" is one of the administration's many unelected, unconfirmed, and unaccountable senior policy officials. Holdren has suggested compulsory sterilization and abortion as appropriate policies for population control. He is on record as calling for the national government dictating how large families can be. Dr. Holdren is a "one world order" proponent, stating that, "a comprehensive Planetary Regime could control the development, administration, conservation, and distribution of all natural resources." In an article he co-authored, Holdren advocated sterilization through government-controlled tainting of the water supply.

Secretary Napolitano has refused to retract her Department's report that warned against so-called "right-wing extremists," with such groups being defined as people who believe in traditional American values like the right to bear arms and the sanctity of life, and even including veterans who hold such views . As governor of Arizona, Napolitano vetoed seven pro-life measures. She also refused to support legislation dealing with illegal immigrants and mocked the building of a wall to protect the US-Mexico border. She opposed amending the Arizona Constitution to protect marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Twenty percent of the state judicial appointments Napolitano made as governor were of homosexuals, reflecting her pro-homosexual agenda.

California Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi represents the congressional district in San Francisco and has become one of the most powerful politicians in America. Pelosi supports same-sex marriage. She is an advocate of hate crimes laws that give special status and protection to homosexuals. Pelosi also has a 100% pro-abortion voting record.

Senator Reid represents the State of Nevada but is reportedly fast losing popularity in his home state. Reid recently smuggled a "hate crimes" amendment through the Senate that gives special recognition to homosexuals by tacking it onto a vital military spending bill and scheduling a middle-of-the-night vote. He favors the Employment Nondiscrimination Act (ENDA) which will force employers to hire homosexuals, transsexuals and cross-dressers.

Schwarzenegger, the former Republican governor of California, was elected on a generally conservative platform but has become quite liberal on social policy issues. Although he felt it necessary to issue state-backed "IOU's" rather than tax refunds in 2009, he refused to cut abortion spending out of the state budget, choosing rather to cut funding for public safety positions. In 2006, Schwarzenegger signed into law a bill that punished organizations not providing full marital benefits to homosexuals, bisexuals, and transsexuals. With many landmark legal challenges to traditional marriage rising in California, he has become an outspoken advocate of imposing same-sex "marriage" on citizens who have consistently voted against it.

“The concern would be the rapes and attacks that aren’t reported,” said Sgt. Ed Mullins, president of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, a police union in New York City. “We have no way of really knowing. If you have three or five crimes reported, you really don’t know if it’s eight or 10 that happened.”

Prayer Controversy at Flagpole Erupts at Florida School

Liberty Counsel sent a letter to the Clay County School District, demanding it stop interfering with constitutionally protected prayer prior to the start of the school day. For some time, students, some teachers, and community members have voluntarily gathered at the Flagpole at Clay Elementary School to pray prior to the start of the school day. But the district buckled under pressure from the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), which alleged that the district must stop the prayer. The FFRF demanded that all prayer at the flagpole cease immediately, stating that "it is grossly inappropriate."

In response, Liberty Counsel sent a letter to the district setting forth the law. The district cannot prohibit constitutionally protected religious speech or prayer during individuals' free time. The United States Department of Education has issued guidelines addressing constitutionally protected prayer, that state:

"Students may organize prayer groups, religious clubs, and 'see you at the pole' gatherings before school to the same extent that students are permitted to organize other non-curricular student activities groups. Such groups must be given the same access to school facilities for assembling as is given to other non-curricular groups, without discrimination because of the religious content of their expression."

Herman Cain's wife is not very tall. She cooks scrumptious southern food. She graduated from Morris Brown College.

These flash-card facts are just about the most compelling bits of information known of Gloria Cain, the woman who's been married to a leading presidential candidate for more than four decades.

While some other aspiring first ladies -- and in the case of Rep. Michele Bachmann, first man -- are on the campaign trail with their spouses, or at least maintaining some modicum of a public presence, Herman Cain's better half has been virtually absent from the limelight.

She doesn't even have a Wikipedia page.

Yet the candidate has described Gloria as his "greatest supporter," their relationship as "magic."

Ventura, miffed by court, says he's off to Mexico

ST. PAUL, Minnesota (AP) — Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura is so upset by the dismissal of his airport security lawsuit that he threatened Friday to apply for dual citizenship so he can spend more time in his beloved Mexico — or run for president of what he labeled "the Fascist States of America."

Ventura, also a former wrestling star, sued the U.S. government in January, alleging that airport scans and pat-downs amounted to unreasonable search and seizure. A district judge threw out his lawsuit Thursday, ruling it should have been filed in a Circuit Court of Appeals.

Ventura has said a titanium hip implanted in him in 2008 sets off metal detectors and that agents previously used hand-held wands to scan his body. He said he was subjected to a body pat-down after an airport metal detector went off last November. Ventura said he hasn't flown since and won't fly commercially again.

Outside the federal courthouse in St. Paul, with a crew from his "Conspiracy Theory" cable TV show filming, Ventura said he hadn't decided whether to continue pressing his lawsuit. He said he wanted to make his case before a jury, not a panel of judges.

Ventura, a political independent who served one term as governor, teased that he might have to run for president to change the policy and a court system he regards as broken.

Moments later, he vowed to apply for Mexican citizenship so he can live there more months of the year.

The former Navy SEAL said he had lost his patriotism.

"I will never stand for a national anthem again. I will turn my back and I will raise a fist," he said.

Ventura's anger is certainly justified, it's hard to have pride in a nation that has gone to crap at the hands of Obama and like minded liberals. But instead of turning your back on America, I suggest trying to change it back to a great nation.

However, Mexico is a great place to live if you have money. As is the Philippines.

And as it gets worse and worse, I believe this will be the millstone around Barack Obama's neck that will take his presidency down."

16 occupy Wall St. protesters arrested

In New York the latest round of demonstrations supposedly calling for corporate accountability, 16 occupy Wall St. hoodlums were arrested in front of the global headquarters of Goldman Sachs in lower Manhattan.

A New York police department spokesperson confirmed that nine men and seven women were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
